In 2001, the restyling of the European version of the Honda Accord was reflected in some details of the car’s appearance, in particular, it received new bumpers and fog lights, a modified false radiator grille and a company logo (badge “H”) in chrome trim, etc. In general, after all the changes made, the sedan began to seem even more dynamic and sporty. Recall that the European Accord was developed by the Japanese together with specialists in England and Germany, a car was produced in England, from where it entered the Russian market. After restyling, the most powerful model in the European range became available to the Russian buyer - Type-R with a 2.2-liter 212-horsepower “four”, which complemented the already familiar modifications with a 2.0-liter engine (147 liters. with.).
The interior of the sixth-generation Honda Accord looks very good even by modern standards, and the seat structure is quite successful to accommodate people of different physiques. The steering column is adjustable for tilt, along with a sufficient range of seat adjustments, allowing the driver to take a comfortable position. At the same time, during the restyling, some improvements were reflected in the sedan's interior: better seat upholstery, cladding and more. Standard equipment includes electric mirrors, tilt steering wheel, power windows, air conditioning, immobilizer. A more expensive version of the ES offered electric front seats, a leather interior, heated front seats, climate control. The sports version of the Type-R was distinguished by 17-inch wheels, external tuning parts, a three-spoke steering wheel with convenient finger recesses, sports seats and other features.

Familiar from the previous version, the 2.0-liter F20B6 unit has a capacity of 147 hp. Thanks to the VTEC system, this engine is considered quite economical, especially at low revs: fuel consumption indicators in the combined cycle fit into the range of 8.6-9 l / 100 km. At the same time, the engine is quite dynamic at high speeds - and this is also the merit of the VTEC system. The maximum speed of the sedan reaches 200-210 km / h, and the acceleration time from standstill to 100 km / h in the version with a 5-speed "mechanics" - 10 seconds (one second longer for a car with a 4-speed automatic transmission). With proper maintenance (the use of high-quality fuel and oil, timely replacement of the timing belt), this engine is able to please with a long trouble-free operation. If we take into account the characteristics of version 2.2 MT Type-R, then the engine of the sports H22A7 series is installed in this model: the maximum speed is 228 km / h, and acceleration to hundreds is almost 7 seconds. At the same time, the average fuel consumption is about 9.6 l / 100 km. It is worth noting that this motor is considered more whimsical, but it also has a good resource, if you follow it.

On the positive side, the 6th generation Accord sedan is distinguished by driving performance. The car uses the well-proven double independent linkage suspension of lever type on all four wheels. In the European specification, the car is equipped with a traditional power steering. The brakes are fully disc (front ventilated). Body dimensions: length 4595 mm, width 1750 mm, height 1430 mm. The wheelbase of the car is 2670 mm, and the minimum turning radius of 5.3 m indicates good maneuverability. The luggage compartment is 425 liters.

For the sixth generation Honda Accord, front dual airbags for the driver and passenger, as well as side front airbags, were offered as standard equipment. Door stiffeners, belts with tensioners and load limiters are also a guarantee of increased safety. Electronic systems include ABS anti-lock brakes with EBD brake force distribution and cruise control (optional). In 2000, the Honda Accord sedan received four stars of the Euro NCAP European Commission.

The sixth-generation Honda Accord in the European left-hand drive version is an excellent option for a compact family car with a sporty character. However, these cars are significantly inferior in number to the right-hand drive models for the Japanese domestic market, which were massively imported in the 2000s, so the choice is limited. In addition to the differences Honda Accord has for different markets, it is worth considering a slightly more modest configuration, which usually characterizes the European model in this generation.
This model of the Accord station wagon, after it was discontinued in the North American market, was the first link in the implementation of the Honda concept, which was intended to unobtrusively raise the image of Japanese cars. The main idea was that the car of local production contained the commodity features necessary for the global consumer. In the exterior of the 1997 Accord Wagon, sportiness is even more pronounced than in previous generations. The car does not have an outstanding carrying capacity, but it has an attractive appearance with a characteristic softly rounded “back” shape with a very large glass, which gives it a bright personality. Continued the tradition of elitism Accord wagon. The most accessible version was the Accord Wagon Vi, which included climate control, an electric power amplifier with a variable gear ratio, an MD / CD changer, a rear center and front armrests, a two-level trunk with storage containers, xenon headlights, a remote control and others useful options. More expensive equipment received a more interesting interior, complemented by a variety of "little things" like wood trim, leather inserts, leather upholstery, the presence of a sunroof, alloy wheels, etc., as well as a special plastic body kit for the better that distinguishes this stylish station wagon . After restyling in 2000, the Accord Wagon competed with the sedan in the number of issued copies - in those years in Japan there was a high demand for cars in this version: a station wagon with a powerful engine. The Accord Wagon is equipped with only a 2.3-liter inline 4-cylinder engine with VTEC system. For versions “Vi” and “VTL” a 160 hp SOHC engine was intended. front-wheel drive modifications and 158 hp all-wheel drive. In 1999, the SiR equipment was added to the model's modification range, on which a power unit of the DOHC VTEC series was installed, developing a power of 200 hp. In addition, in 2000, an all-wheel drive version of this modification began to be produced, but already with a capacity of 190 hp. All versions of the Accord Wagon were equipped only with an automatic transmission - a 4-speed with electronic control and the ability to manually shift gears.

A feature of the new Accord model was a significant improvement in driving performance due to the refinement of the front double wishbone suspension, the use of a rear 5-link independent suspension, the appearance of an electric power steering with a variable gear ratio and a 4WD Real Time all-wheel drive system with a Dual Pump clutch (double hydraulic pump). From the name of this system, "Real Time", it follows that the four-wheel drive is activated only at the time at which it is needed, thereby ensuring optimal fuel consumption. Unlike previous generations, offering only front-wheel drive, the new station wagon has become a much more complete tourist option.

Of the active and passive safety systems in the Honda Accord Wagon there are airbags (driver and front passenger), child seat mounts, door stiffeners, front belts with pretensioners and load limiters. As well as electronic systems: anti-lock braking (ABS), auxiliary braking system (Brake Assist). The standard for this version is a ruggedized body, which allowed the model to successfully prove itself in crash tests.

Honda Accord Wagon demonstrates the high build quality and reliability typical of cars manufactured in the domestic market. Excellent consumer parameters make it possible to include it in the list of the most popular and sought-after cars, potential consumers of which make up a special group of customers for whom not only spaciousness and practicality, but also dynamics and power are in the foreground. In the unconditional advantages of the model, you can bring a high level of comfort and equipment.
