The Accord model of 2002 is distinguished by a rather striking exterior - the Japanese finally abandoned the “biodesign” style and the previous rounded-flowing forms gave way to sharp, rapid lines. All this had a positive impact on sales and helped to maintain the strategic importance of the model in Honda's struggle for the world market. Unlike the North American market, Accord received the same body styles for Europe and Japan, with the exception of an all-wheel drive modification, which was produced only for the domestic Japanese market. The asset of the Accord modification, offered to Russian buyers, is two body types - a sedan and a station wagon, two gasoline engines and four trim levels. Trim and trim Honda Accord tied to the engine, and sometimes to the gearbox. The Comfort version - a sedan or station wagon with a fabric interior - can only be combined with a 2-liter engine and a manual gearbox. In addition, "Comfort" is equipped with power accessories, audio controls on the steering wheel, separate climate control. 2-liter sedans and station wagons with automatic transmission are offered by Sport. It differs slightly in interior design and richer equipment (in addition - headlight washer, seat heater, rain sensor, leather steering wheel, 6 speakers in the audio system, alarm with immobilizer, alloy wheels). Cars with a 2.4-liter engine are available in Type S (sedan only) and Executive versions. Sportiness of the sedan of the Type S version is expressed mainly by decor elements (front, rear spoilers, side "skirt"). Compared to Sport equipment, Type S has a dynamic stabilization system, xenon headlights and cruise control. The complete set of sedan and station wagon “Executive” is the richest. In addition, there is a leather interior with electric and heated seats, a CD changer for 6 disks and 8 speakers, as well as a sunroof.

Accord for the Russian market was equipped with two Honda power units - in-line four-cylinder, DOCH i-VTEC systems (electronic fuel injection, variable valve timing and valve lift heights). The Honda K20A base engine was designed for both sedans and station wagons. With a volume of two liters, its power is 155 hp. at 6000 rpm The Type S sedans featured a more powerful K24A engine with 190 hp. (at 6800 rpm).

The seventh-generation Honda Accord uses the perfect running gear with double wishbone suspensions for superior ride comfort, precision and stability. In addition, the changed location of the rear suspension attachment points made it possible to increase the volume of the luggage compartment - the sedan has 450 liters, which is very good in its class.

The safety level of the Honda Accord VII is one of the highest for its time. The list of equipment of all modifications includes the VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) system that provides directional stability, if necessary, brake the right or left pair of wheels and control the throttle. In addition, the basic equipment also includes EBD (brake force distribution) and emergency braking systems, wipers with rain sensor. The car is equipped with front and side airbags, curtain airbags, while the kit for the sedan includes six airbags, and for the station wagon - eight.

The seventh generation Honda Accord combines the features of a sports car with the practicality of a family sedan. However, compared with the previous, sixth generation, the next generation of Honda Accord showed not just evolution, but a real leap forward in terms of safety, comfort, economy and improving power characteristics. All this made it possible to strengthen the model’s position on the market, and in Russia it was with this generation that the mass transfer of “hondovods” to the left wheel began.
In 2002, sales of the seventh generation of the Honda Accord began. Deliveries were made to the markets of Asia, Europe and the USA. For the American market, a more overall version of the car was produced. This was due to the fact that in America as a Honda Accord sedan another model of the Japanese company was sold - Honda Inspire. The American model differed from the Japanese version of Inspire in a less luxurious interior design and a wide variety of engines.
Two types of engines were installed on the Honda Accord sedan delivered to the USA: R4 2.4 (160 hp) and V6 3.0 (240 hp). Engine 3.0 was also installed on Japanese car modifications, but for the American market its power was reduced by 10 horsepower. The presence of a relatively low-power 2.4 engine is due to the fact that most of the buyers of the sedan in America are not only wealthy, but also older people who prefer high-quality control and reliability on the road. A feature of the 3.0 engines belonging to the i-VTEC series was the possibility of suspending the operation of cylinders of one row, during which the Honda Accord sedan runs on only three cylinders. This function is activated when cruise control is switched on and is displayed on the dashboard with the illuminated ECO. Thanks to its activation by car, it is possible to achieve a minimum fuel consumption of only 8.6 liters per 100 kilometers. For comparison, engine 2. 4 in the combined cycle consumes 9.1-9.4 liters of fuel. The fuel tank has a volume of 65 liters.

Other differences between the versions are also noticeable: in America, the Honda Accord sedan is equipped with a power steering instead of an electric power steering installed on models exported to Europe.

On the American version of the Honda Accord, other innovations of developers were also applied, including an active passive safety system (CMS). This Chord system was introduced for the first time in the world. The radar monitors the situation in front of the car and when danger is detected, the electronics give the driver light and sound alerts. In the absence of reaction, the CMS automatically tightens the seat belts and activates the brake system, ensuring a complete stop of the machine. A five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic was installed on the Honda Accord sedan. With 3.0 engines (240 hp), only an automatic transmission was available. Cars were produced with front-wheel drive, and a double-lever in front and a multi-link in the rear acted as a suspension. The suspension was installed independent. Sedan disc brakes (front - ventilated).

The dimensions of the seventh generation Accord were as follows: length - 4665 mm, width - 1760 mm, height - 1445 mm. The wheelbase of the model was 2670 mm, and the clearance was 15 centimeters. Trunk volume - 459 liters.

For the US market, the Honda Accord sedan was available in DX, EX, EX-L and LX trim levels. Options EX and LX were available only with motors 3. 0. In the basic DX package, leather upholstery, front airbags and an anti-lock braking system were available. Optional front fog lights, a CD changer and a hands free device were installed.

The EX-L version includes an adjustable sunroof, heated front seats, steering wheel audio controls, side airbags, curtain airbags and cruise control. Options EX additionally includes traction control, climate control and navigation system. The LX has no curtain pads and navigation systems.

The release of this version of the Honda Accord continued until 2005, when it was replaced by a restyled model.
