Honda Edix was put into production in July 2004, and in November 2006, the minivan was thoroughly updated. First of all, we can name changes in appearance, which include a reformed front with a new hood, grille and bumper, as well as a completely changed optics. The lenses of the rear combined lights are a little toned, the rear spoiler has been updated. In the back of the central front seat, the developers provided for the installation of cup holders and a mini table. The equipment has been improved, but most importantly, the 2.0-liter K20A engine is now becoming the base, and as an alternative to it, a 2.4-liter K24A unit has appeared under the hood (only in front-wheel drive).
Recall, Honda Edix is a tall passenger 4-door station wagon, in which on the first and second row of seats can accommodate three people. The middle seats can be independently moved back and forth on a slide. The independent design of each of the seats makes it easy to "edit" the interior for different tasks. Honda Edix standard equipment includes height adjustment for the driver's seat, remote key, and power windows. The front seat can be turned into a functional table with double retractable cup holders, there is a rear center armrest. The seat cover is made of water-repellent materials. Comfort features include climate control, heated windshield in the wiper area, heated side mirrors and much more. The sports model 24S is distinguished by a steering wheel with genuine leather trim, an understated sports suspension (minus 10 mm), and sports exterior details.
The updated Honda Edix is equipped with two in-line 4-cylinder DOHC i-VTEC engines, a working volume of 2 liters (156 liters. sec.) and 2.4 liters (162 hp) with a 5-speed automatic transmission. For the 2.0-liter engine, as before, a work option is provided in combination with the “Real time 4WD” all-wheel drive system - in this combination, the transmission is 4-speed. Models 2.0 demonstrate quite a good indicator of specific power - 9.17-9.55 k / hp, while in the sports model 24S it is slightly better - up to 9.14 kilograms per horsepower. If we talk about fuel consumption, the efficiency indicator for models with a 2.0-liter engine is 12.2-13 km / l, for the 24S model it is 12 km / l, which roughly corresponds to 7.7-8.2 l / 100 km and 8.33 l / 100 km.
The chassis of the car is borrowed from cars of the Civic and Stream series, which means using the independent MacPherson strut in the front, and the independent suspension on the double wishbones is also installed at the rear. Honda Edix was equipped with disks of 15 or 16 inches in size, it now has disc brakes on all models (front ventilated). Vehicle dimensions: approximately 4.3 meters in length and 1.6 meters in height, width 1.8 m. The wheelbase is 2680 mm, and the minimum turning radius is 4.9-5.2 meters. Interior dimensions: 1875 x 1535 x 1230 (L x W x H). Trunk volume is measured at 450 liters, and if the rear seats are folded, it more than doubles - up to 1049 liters. Thanks to various methods of transforming the position of seats in the passenger compartment, the car can be used with equal benefit both for carrying luggage when only one person remains in the passenger compartment - the driver - and with full passenger loading.
Excellent safety is one of the important advantages of Honda Edix. The car is equipped with two front airbags, Isofix mounts for installing child seats, three-point seat belts for all seats. Its body complies with stringent passenger protection requirements in a collision. The list of options included side airbags and curtain airbags. Active systems include ABS with EBD and BAS assist braking system. Xenon headlights (option) better illuminate the road at night.
Honda Edix has many positive aspects. This is Honda's characteristic dynamics, maneuverability, and high driving performance. Plus roominess, excellent interior transformation capabilities, comfort. But, despite the silence declared by the manufacturer, the car is actually noisy. Among the shortcomings, the owners also called problems with visibility, low ground clearance, an inconvenient window control panel. It is believed that the car did not take root in the Japanese market due to the fact that the layout according to the "3 X 2" formula was not very popular among the Japanese - its production was discontinued in 2009.
