In 2008, a new model came to replace the Honda Mobilio - the Honda Freed. This is a compact minivan with three rows of seats and a spacious interior. Its name is derived from "freedom", and is also interpreted as a combination of the words "free" and "do", thereby demonstrating independence and the absence of restrictions on use. This model uses the know-how of Honda designers to create very compact compact cars with low floors and a low center of gravity in operation. The salon is equipped with a choice of a second row of seats in the form of a continuous sofa, or separate seats of the second row. In the first case, the car can accommodate eight people, in the second - seven, this is the most popular version of Freed among buyers, the cabin of which can easily be moved to any of the places. You can also purchase a five-seater package (Flex) without a third row of seats. The front of the Honda Freed looks unusual: a three-story front panel with impressive horizontal surfaces. The rear doors of the car are movable, which facilitates the boarding and alighting of passengers in tight parking conditions. Freed - a car of the “one and a half liter” class, under its hood is the Honda SOHC i-VTEC engine of the corresponding volume, with a capacity of 118 hp
In 2008, many options were offered for Honda Freed. The simplest five-seater version of “Flex” is a real find for those who lead an active lifestyle and, in the absence of the third row, can use the entire luggage compartment with maximum benefit. The most “stuffed” equipment is the “Gi Aero”, it includes xenon headlights, 15-inch alloy wheels and a decorative body kit, tinted windows, navigation on the hard disk and rearview camera, climate control, keyless entry and start-up system, second captain's seats rows with individual armrests and other equipment. With a small update of the model in May 2009, road map lights and ceiling handrails for rear passengers were added to all modifications. In the seven-seat modification, the horizontal adjustment range of the second row seats increased by 40 mm. In addition, instead of the existing “L Package” modification, a “Just Selection” modification has now appeared, equipped with popular options. In May 2010, a special version of the Highway Edition appeared - this extended version of the G Aero standard equipment includes heated and water-repellent side mirrors, a water-repellent coating on the windshield and front door windows, and the rear doors with an electric door closer. With a small modernization in November 2010, the door trim at Frida was replaced with a textile one, more pleasant to the touch, the seat upholstery was updated, the models are equipped with a parking rear mirror with a wide viewing angle, the orange backlight in the instrument cluster has changed to blue.

Mounted on a Honda Freed 1.5-liter L15A engine develops a maximum power of 118 hp. (at 6600 rpm) and a maximum torque of 144 Nm (at 4800 rpm). It works in conjunction with a 5-speed automatic and all-wheel drive system or with a CVT variator. Cars with automatic transmission are capable of driving up to 14 km on one liter of gasoline (7.1 l / 100 km) in 10/15 mode, while with a variator - up to 16.4 km (6.1 l / 100 km ) In 2010, due to the optimization of the CVT settings, it was possible to increase the mileage to 17 km / l (5.9 l / per 100 km). In addition, the car is now equipped with a new ECON Mode function, which controls the operation of the engine, transmission, and air conditioning (a similar function is available in Honda Insight). The fuel tank of Honda Freed has a volume of 42 liters.

The compact minivan Honda Freed is designed based on the Honda Fit. The front suspension of the car is independent (suspension strut type MacPherson strut), rear - semi-dependent (torsion beam) in front-wheel drive cars and dependent (type De Dion) in all-wheel drive. The car is equipped with electric power steering, ventilated disc brakes on the front axle and drum brakes on the rear. The length of the minivan is 4215 mm, and the height is 1715 mm. Body width - 1695 mm. Wheelbase - 2740 mm. The minimum turning radius is only 5.2 m. The dimensions of the Honda Freed are 2625 x 1440 x 1265 mm. The maximum trunk length of the five-seat Freed Flex, if you fold the back row, is 1445 mm, which allows you to accommodate, for example, a pair of bicycles. For models with three rows, the luggage compartment is very small, but good transformation capabilities allow you to adapt the interior space even for transporting long luggage. A set of Honda Freed 2008-2011 safety systems provides two front airbags, child seat mounts, active head restraints, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) and an auxiliary brake system (BAS), while the upper trim levels will offer additional side airbags and curtain airbags, a stability control system and traction control system (standard for "Gi aero"). The car received the highest rating in crash tests JNCAP (2008).

Honda Freed deserves the most positive ratings for external and internal design, roominess, comfort (especially in seven-seat versions), economy. The engine, despite its modest size, is quite powerful. Of the shortcomings, the owners most often call the lack of the ability to get a flat floor from the folded seats, low ground clearance, lack of a spare wheel. It is worth noting that for those who prefer a five-seater saloon, in 2010 a new separate Freed Spike model with improved transformation capabilities was proposed, which became the successor to the Honda Mobilio Spike.
