Odyssey co-founded the minivan boom in Japan. The 3rd generation of this car, which began to be produced in 2003, is not inferior in popularity to its predecessors. As before, Odyssey is a minivan with 7 seats in three rows, the body of which is equipped with swing doors and rear “gates”. But as part of improving the model, taking into account market demands, its height was slightly reduced and began to total 1550 mm. This had a positive effect on the convenience of parking: if earlier these minivans could park only on ordinary city parking lots, then this model with a reduced height became possible to park on 2-level parking lots typical of Japan, where there are height restrictions. To reduce the height of the car without losing comfort, Honda applied new technologies to lower the floor, which was already used on Fit. A completely new fuel tank was also designed and the suspension was improved - it became stronger and more compact. 3rd row seats can be automatically tucked under the floor. Due to the fact that the height of the car decreased, it acquired an aggressive appearance. The design of the body can be compared with sports universals.
As in the second generation of the model, the sports version Absolute is produced here, which uses 17-inch wheels. Odyssey Absolute has sporting characteristics rather than minivans characteristic. It is equipped with a 2.4 liter inline 4-cylinder DOHC engine only.
