The 5th generation Prelude, which began production in 1996, is a coupe with a conservative body design. The developers seemed to be back to the 3rd generation of the model. It must be that when creating the 4th generation of Prelude, Honda management decided that its appearance would be full of individual features. Therefore, despite the fact that the 5th Prelude is full of fundamental changes, its predecessor looks somewhat more modern.
Prelude is equipped with 4 types of engines. The most powerful of them are DOHC VTEC engines (220 and 200 hp); there is also a 160 hp DOHC engine and SOHC with 135 hp As in the 4th generation of the model, all engines are 2.2-liter, in-line, 4-cylinder. The front and rear suspension is independent, with double wishbones. There is a modification equipped with a 4WS system. Among the improvements, it is worth noting the ATTS (Active Torque Transfer System) system, which actively distributes torque and allows the car to enter corners faster and more sharply. Another innovation is the S-Matic transmission.
Prelude entered the brightest pages in the history of the Honda coupe, and in 2000 its era ended - on this generation the production of the model was completed.
