By 2003, Honda Stepwgn began to experience very fierce competition from the recently emerged Toyota Noah and Voxy models. As an answer, the manufacturer made a large-scale improvement of the model with the modernization of many nodes. Design changes have seriously transformed both the exterior and interior of the car. The comfort of the second row seats is increased. There are many premium features. In addition, Stepwgn additionally received a new modification with a more powerful and high-torque 2.4-liter engine, which was equipped with adaptive headlights, for the first time for Japanese minivan cars. Another important innovation was the car of a new category Spada, offered for young drivers.
After restyling in June 2003, a touch of luxury has been added to the Honda Stepwgn design. Aggressively narrow optics, a stylish radiator grille and a more sporty bumper are striking in front. The rear part was enriched by a spectacular decorative strip on the tailgate, and new lights became more compact and with transparent lenses. Changes in the cabin include a redesigned dashboard, updated seat upholstery, more functional compartments, an optitron “tidy” and a new climate control system. Premium options include voice-activated navigation, a tailgate electric drive system (except for “B” equipment) with remote key opening. The Spada version stands out with its sporty aerodynamic details as well as a luxurious black interior.

Since 2003, the Honda Stepwgn lineup has replenished with a modification equipped with a 2.4-liter engine. The K24A series unit has a power reserve of 162 horsepower (at 6000 rpm) and a torque of 220 Nm (at 3600 rpm). The latest engine, equipped with the i-VTEC system, is aggregated with a 5-speed automatic transmission. The drive can be front or full. Fuel consumption is from 8.9 to 9.1 l / 100 km. The basic version with a 2.0-liter K20A unit has the same characteristics as before: 160 hp (at 6500 rpm) and a torque of 191 Nm (at 4000 rpm). The engine is combined with a 4-speed automatic transmission, front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Gasoline consumption of 7.7-8.6 liters per 100 km. The volume of the fuel tank is 55-60 liters.

The second-generation Honda Stepwgn has a front-wheel drive layout and independent front and rear suspensions. On the front axle are MacPherson struts, on the rear are double wishbones. The car was equipped with disc brakes front and rear, power steering. Body dimensions: 4675 x 1695 x 1860 (L x W x H), while the Spada version has 4680 x 1725 x 1860 mm. The wheelbase of the minivan is 2805 mm. The minimum turning radius is 5.3 meters. Dimensions of the internal space: 2800 x 1570 x 1350 mm. When the two rear rows are folded, the minivan has a very large cargo compartment, however, even with all three rows of seats in the back, there is still enough space for luggage.

Significant modernization of the second generation Stepwgn model has led to the emergence of new features that increase security. The AFS (adaptive front lighting system) system changes the direction of the luminous flux of dipped-beam headlights in corners, increasing road safety at night. The car also received the latest anti-theft system with an immobilizer. Two airbags (side airbags as an option), front belts with load limiters and pretensioners, child seat mounts, side stiffeners, anti-lock braking system (ABS), auxiliary braking system and EBD (electronic brake force distribution) are standard equipment.  With restyling, Stepwgn acquired a new image, and in combination with the new motor became more interesting in dynamics. All this allowed to remain on the wave of popularity. In terms of transformation capabilities, Honda Stepwgn has not changed its main principles, while at the same time it has become even more comfortable and convenient. High safety and reliability of the car as a whole deserves special mention. The disadvantages of the minivan are the owners call windage, susceptibility to corrosion, low ground clearance.
