Van
Vamos is a passenger van based on the Honda Acty commercial vehicle. In the second generation, it began to be produced in 1999. Considering a machine designed for spending free time, Vamos has everything that is necessary for a good rest, including excellent opportunities for transforming the cabin. In accordance with the new safety requirements, the Honda Vamos cab has acquired a small overhang to reduce the likelihood of serious damage in a collision. The front wheels were advanced as far as possible, and the mid-engine layout ensured the safety and stability of the car, not to mention the more spacious interior. The Honda Vamos is an atmosphere of simplicity and functionality. However, the micro-van is not primitive in equipping. For example, the “Deluxe” equipment deserves high marks - a luxurious version with an exclusive interior, a standard CD player, and a center console with wood-like finish. Like the commercial Acty, the Vamos microven is equipped with a corresponding key-class 660 cc 3-cylinder SOHC engine with 12 valves, while the turbo engine is installed in the most powerful version, the output of which is increased to 64 “forces”.
The standard version of the Honda Vamos 1999-2001 is equipped with body color bumpers, full-size wheel caps, factory-tinted glazing, power windows, a central lock and a rear heater. Mandatory equipment also includes air conditioning and a rear wiper, and for an extra fee, wood-like inserts, a sunroof, alloy wheels to choose from, and a decorative body kit were offered. More expensive versions will offer a stereo AM / FM cassette with four speakers, a remote key, mirror housings in body color. The turbo version, which appeared at the beginning of 2000, is distinguished by a unique sports interior based on black and orange colors, exclusive seats with improved upholstery, a center console with carbon coating, orange-colored scales in the instrument cluster and on the climate panel. The turbo version also has exclusive design wheels and an enlarged exhaust pipe. In October 2000, the already mentioned version of deluxe diluted the top position.

The 1999-2001 Honda Vamos engine range includes gasoline inline 3-cylinder engines of the E07Z family with a working volume of 656 cc. All have a SOHC type design. Atmospheric give a maximum power of 46 hp (torque of 59 Nanometers) or 52 l. with. (60 Nm). The base motor is equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox (including 4WD options), or a 3-band “automatic”, more powerful - 4-band and an all-wheel drive system. The turbo versions have a power reserve of 64 horsepower, and the torque reaches a maximum value of 93 Nm, the gearbox is only automatic (4AT), the drive is rear or full. Depending on the modification, the gasoline consumption of atmospheric engines falls within 5.7-6.9 l / 100 km. Turbo versions consume 6.5 - 7.1 l / 100 km. A 36-37 liter fuel tank is enough to provide a decent range at full fueling.

The front suspension of the Honda Vamos is independent (MacPherson strut), the rear is dependent, such as De Dion, providing a comfortable and safe ride. The car is initially rear-wheel drive, and the front-wheel drive (on cars with 4WD) is connected only under certain conditions (4WD Real Time). The dimensions of the micro-van fit into the standards for subcompact cars: length - 3395 mm, width - 1475 mm, height - 1775 mm. The wheelbase has a length of 2420 mm. It is enough to successfully organize the interior space with a good supply of legroom for the rear passengers and allocate 260 liters of usable volume for the trunk, which can easily be increased by transforming the passenger compartment. Here it is better organized than the commercial Acty - the second row seats are folded separately (in the ratio of 60:40). The basic equipment of all models of Honda Vamos 1999-2001 includes two airbags (driver and passenger), belts with a mechanism of pretensioning and force limitation, fastening child seats, stiffeners in the doors. The list of options includes anti-lock braking system ABS, since 2000 - with an emergency brake booster and electronic brake force distribution (EBD).

Honda Vamos is a very good option for the city, given its size and economy. Of course, you should not wait for high-quality sound insulation, and the dynamic characteristics are good only in the version with a turbo engine. The salon transforms, easily turning the Vamos into a van. Of the main shortcomings of the model, the owners call sailing, a cold cabin, and susceptibility to corrosion. The engines of the model are very demanding on the quality of service and compliance with the manufacturer's recommendations. An upgraded version of Vamos was introduced in the fall of 2001 and offers a number of significant improvements.
