3 generation
Sedan
The third generation Lexus GS Series sedans were first introduced in 2005 at the North American Auto Show in Detroit. Initially, the GS430 model was offered as the flagship of the line, equipped with a powerful 4.3-liter V8 gasoline engine, inherited from the previous generation. In addition to it, the car was offered with a gasoline V6, as well as a hybrid modification of the GS450h. In this generation, the Lexus GS is built on a platform with a 2580mm wheelbase. Multi-link rear suspension. Significantly improved driving performance of the model - both maneuverability and smoothness. As befits a premium performance car, Lexus GS is distinguished by excellent sound insulation, and the rapid proportions of the body and the features of the arrangement of its elements provide a low drag coefficient (Cd = 0.27). Since 2008, the flagship role has moved from the GS430 to the new GS460.
On the Russian market, the GS430 was presented in the most equipped configuration, with which alloy wheels with 245 / 40R18 tires, xenon headlights, side mirrors with electric and auto-tuning when turning on the rear speed, electric sunroof, leather-wrapped steering wheel, electric steering column and front seats were offered , leather interior, remote key, climate control system with two separate zones for the driver and passenger. The optional Mark Levinson audio system with a powerful amplifier and 14 speakers creates surround sound that fits perfectly into the car's interior. The options also include seat ventilation, additional safety features and much more. The GS430 has a 4.3-liter V8 engine of the 3UZ-FE series (the same as the previous generation) in combination with a 6-speed automatic sequential gearbox. It uses direct injection and the VVTi intelligent variable valve timing system. As a result, the engine produces 283 hp, and an automatic transmission with an artificial intelligence control system (AI-SHIFT) provides serious dynamic characteristics (acceleration to 100 km / h in 5.7 seconds) and a fairly high efficiency (average consumption) 11.8 l / 100 km). The drive is carried out on back wheels.

The third-generation Lexus GS suspension is a fully independent, multi-link front and rear. Given that the GS is primarily a sports sedan, the chassis is tuned accordingly. For better stability, the car is equipped with an adaptive suspension stiffness control system (AVS), which is able to change the damping characteristics of shock absorbers. Ventilated disc brakes are installed on both axles of the car, providing the most effective braking. On GS vehicles, the Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system is used, which recognizes potentially dangerous situations and makes adjustments to the vehicle dynamics, thereby preventing possible loss of control. Power steering (EPS), an electronic brake system and traction control ensure reliable steering. In addition, up to 10 airbags, adaptive headlights, a tire pressure monitoring system and other functions, up to and including radar cruise control (option), are responsible for the safety of the driver and passengers. The GS Series is characterized by higher dynamic performance than other Lexus sedans. The rear-wheel drive GS430 can be an excellent choice for lovers of active driving and an alternative to European sports sedans of the same level. It is worth noting that this model was produced until the end of 2007, and at the beginning of 2008 an updated version of the sedan entered the Russian market, which instead of a 4.3-liter unit was equipped with a 4.6-liter (model GS460).
