Lexus GS450h is equipped with a V-shaped 6-cylinder engine capacity of 3.5 liters and an electric motor. In total, the power of the hybrid unit is comparable to the power of a traditional V8 gasoline internal combustion engine with a volume of 4 liters or more, while the Lexus GS450h is close to cars with a two-liter engine in terms of fuel consumption - an average of 7 liters of fuel is consumed per 100 km. The new Lexus GS450h has very few differences from other cars of the GS series, for example, the hybrid version can be identified by the inscription “Hybrid” on the sides and by alloy wheels made according to a special sketch. In addition, the trunk in this version is significantly smaller than in gasoline. Given the premium status, the car was offered in the most complete equipment. So, the American version offers 18-inch alloy wheels, xenon headlights, heated and ventilated seats, dual-zone climate control, electric steering column, keyless entry and start system, an audio system with a changer and 10 speakers. Options include a navigation system, Mark Levinson audio system with 14 speakers and 330 watts, adaptive suspension, additional security systems. In 2007, an updated version was introduced, which features a new front bumper, an updated headlight design, rear-view mirrors with built-in turn signals - all these are the most noticeable changes. The gasoline part of the power plant is a 3.5-liter V6, which produces 210kW / 286hp of power. (DIN). The D-4S Combined Injection System provides optimum engine performance over the entire rev range. Power installation 140kW / 190l.s. (DIN). The total output power is about 250 kW / 340 l.s. (DIN). Torque is transmitted to the rear wheels via a variator, and this is the only transmission option. Acceleration from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour will require only 5.9 seconds, and fuel consumption is 7.9 liters per hundred kilometers. The GS450h undercarriage design: fully independent multi-link suspension, electric power steering with variable gear ratio, ventilated disc brakes front and rear, adaptive suspension, etc. e. An active APSSS suspension stabilization system is installed on the car, which provides additional assistance in driving, because the hybrid version has significantly more weight due to the Hybrid Synergy Drive power plant. Lexus GS450h is equipped as standard with stability control and traction control, an anti-lock brake system with a brake force distribution system and an emergency braking assistance system. The restraint systems include ten airbags, seat belts with pretensioners, child seat mounts. The list of standard equipment also includes adaptive headlights, a parking assistance system and tire pressure monitoring. The optional Pre-Collision system predicts a frontal collision and reduces damage by pre-emergency preparation of the car before the collision and includes the adaptive cruise control function. In IIHS crash tests, the car received the highest possible result.

Lexus GS450h became the first hybrid sports sedan of a premium class in the American market and in addition is the world's first rear-wheel drive car with a combined power plant. At Russian sites, hybrid GS450h imported from the United States are not common. Given the presence of a hybrid drive, it is advisable to conduct a comprehensive diagnosis and check the status of the power plant before purchasing (whether the battery is at the “dying” stage and if there are any problems with the internal combustion engine).
