Sedan
The Lexus GS450h sedan became the world's first rear-wheel drive car with a hybrid propulsion system such as THS II (Toyota Hybrid System). Lexus GS450h is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 brand 2GR-FSE with a capacity of 296 horsepower, as well as a compact electric motor with a capacity of 200 horsepower and a variator. The developers had to practically redesign the engine layout in order to adapt the hybrid installation to the rear-wheel drive chassis as much as possible. The battery in this car is behind the back of the rear seat, so the boot volume is less than in the basic GS model. Outwardly, the hybrid car differs from the gasoline Lexus GS350 by the inscription “Hybrid” on the sides and aluminum wheel rims, made according to a special sketch.
GS450h is presented in the Russian market in a luxurious performance. The equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights and rear LED lights, adaptive xenon headlights with washers, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, leather interior, engine start from the button, electric front seats with position memory, steering wheel with leather and wood trim, electric steering column with adjustable tilt and reach. Instead of a standard audio system with 10 speakers, a Mark Levinson audio system with 5.1 digital surround sound system, a powerful amplifier and 14 speakers can be installed. In 2007, an updated version was introduced, of the external differences of which: new headlights and a bumper, repeaters built into the mirrors and other changes. Lexus GS450h is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 six-cylinder gasoline engine. Its maximum power is 296 hp. at 6400 rpm., and the maximum torque is 37.5 kg / m at 4800 rpm. The electric motor power is 200 liters. sec., and the maximum torque is 28 kg / m. The effective total power of the hybrid unit is 345 horsepower, which is comparable to the performance of modern eight-cylinder engines. At the same time, the hybrid sedan is characterized by moderate appetite, consuming an average of 7.9 liters of fuel per hundred kilometers. From zero to one hundred kilometers per hour, the GS450h accelerates in 5.9 seconds.

The hybrid transmission allows you to select operating modes: “Normal” for an optimal balance of power and traction, “Power” for maximum acceleration and “Snow” for better traction control in slippery conditions. There is also a sport mode with the ability to manually shift gears. The GS450h is a fully independent multi-link suspension, electric power steering with variable gear ratio, ventilated disc brakes front and rear, adaptive suspension, etc. e. An active suspension stabilization system is also installed on the car, which provides additional assistance in driving, because the hybrid version has significantly more weight due to the Hybrid Synergy Drive power plant. The Lexus GS450h is equipped with a best-in-class set of active and passive safety systems, including Integrated Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDIM), for enhanced performance, traction control and stability. Responsible for passenger safety: ten pillows, child seat fastenings, belts with pretensioners; anti-lock braking system with electronic brake force distribution, auxiliary braking system and directional stability system; tire pressure monitoring, adaptive lighting system with dynamic cornering function. In the Russian market, sales of the GS450h hybrid sedan started in mid-2006. The car became the second hybrid model supplied by Lexus to Russia - the first was the Lexus RX400h SUV. Those wishing to become the owner of a used GS450h premium hybrid sedan should consider that before purchasing it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive diagnosis and check the condition of the power plant (whether the battery is at the “dying” stage and if there are any problems with the internal combustion engine), especially if the car is offered suspiciously low for its class and year price.
