Lexus GS450h L10, 4 generation 12.2011 - 09.2015

GWL10, DAA-GWL10
4 generation
Sedan
With the arrival of the fourth generation, the V8 engines were excluded from the Lexus GS line (at least it continued for several years until the new GS F), so the role of the top version was completely assigned to the hybrid modification. The new Lexus GS450h is equipped with a 3.5-liter Atkinson cycle engine with a compression ratio of 13: 1, which comes to the aid at the right time with an electric motor. The latter can work both in economy mode and in sport mode: the choice is up to the driver and the new Drive Mode system. Externally, the hybrid model stands out due to the headlights with three LEDs, as well as the design of the rear bumper, which covers the openings of the exhaust pipes. The new GS450h can also be distinguished by the blue “HYBRID” nameplates on the front, back and sides. In the US market, the car was offered along with the standard GS350.
2013 GS450h standard equipment for the American market includes alloy wheels with 225/50 R17 tires, adaptive LED headlights and LED running lights, electric sunroof, climate control, leather upholstery, electric steering column and front seats (the latter with heating and ventilation ), as well as a multimedia system with Bluetooth, voice control and 12 speakers surround sound audio system. With the Luxury package, 18-inch wheels, improved leather upholstery, rear seat heating, three-zone climate control and other functions are added. The “F SPORT” version is distinguished by a corresponding sports design package, a steering wheel with the F SPORT logo, aluminum trim and inserts, a rear spoiler on the trunk lid, upgraded brakes, and sports suspension. The Lexus GS450h has a hybrid powertrain that combines a 3.5-liter V6 engine and an electrical installation that is powered by nickel-metal hydride batteries located in the trunk. The model complies with SULEV II certification (Super-Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle II), consumes AI-95 gasoline and consumes an average of 7.6 l / 100 km. With a total system power of 338 hp, which is transmitted to the rear wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT), the Lexus GS450h accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds. The driver can adjust the dynamics at his discretion - for this, use the drive mode switch. In addition to the usual, the driver can choose the Eco, Sport S, Sport S + and EV modes. In the latter, movement occurs only due to electric energy.

The GS line in this generation uses a new platform with increased rigidity compared to the previous series. In the chassis, the number of light elements increased. The fully independent suspension is tuned for active driving and at the same time provides high smoothness. A feature of the F SPORT configuration was the rear wheel control system, which can be rotated up to 2 degrees to provide better handling. Ventilated disc brakes are responsible for safe braking.

The car as standard offers 10 airbags, including knee airbags for the driver and front passenger, active head restraints, child restraints, seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters for front and rear side seats; anti-lock braking system, traction control and directional stability. Additional equipment includes numerous driver assistance systems: automatic parking, collision avoidance when reversing, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, projection display. Lexus GS450h is a business sedan with a hybrid engine, which at the same time has sports dynamics and excellent economy, which is rightly appreciated by adherents of "green" technologies. The GS450h combined power unit was an excellent replacement for the previous V8 engines that were used in the flagship models of the previous generation (GS430 and GS460).
