In the Japanese market, the third-generation Lexus GS (S190), a business-class luxury sports sedan, made its debut as a replacement for the Toyota Aristo sedan, which it had doubled over the previous two generations, and was discontinued in 2005. Initially, the flagship position of the new line was occupied by the Lexus GS430 with a 4.3 liter V8 engine, but in 2007, at the same time as the model was restyled, its place was taken by the GS460, equipped with a 4.6-liter V8 engine. The car of this generation is built on the Toyota N platform with an increased wheelbase (by 50 mm) compared to its predecessor. The Lexus GS demonstrates L-Finesse's signature design language, while a long hood, a rear-mounted interior and a short rear create a swift profile. The proportions of the body and the particular arrangement of its elements provide a low drag coefficient (Cd = 0.27). Since the start of Lexus GS sales in the domestic market, Toyota has been betting on its premium brand in the sports business sedan segment. But, if the former Lexus GS430 flagship provided for only one configuration option, then the Lexus GS460, which appeared on sale in May 2007, was offered to Japanese customers in three versions. In the basic configuration - 245 / 40R18 tires on alloy wheels, xenon headlights with washers, fog lights, side mirrors with heating, electric drive and auto-adjustment function in reverse, electric steering column, electrically adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control. Options “Version I” - a leather interior, electric front seats, memory settings for the driver's seat and steering column. The top-of-the-range Version L features include improved interior trim and additional safety features. Options include a voice-activated navigation system, built-in hard drive, Mark Levinson Premium Sound audio system with 14 speakers and other equipment.

Lexus GS460 received a new 4.6 liter V8 engine. Engine power is 347 liters. with. (at 6400 rpm), the torque is 460 Nm (4100 rpm). Compared with the engine, which was installed in the Lexus GS430, the increase in power was very significant - almost fifty horses were added under the hood. The new series motor (1UR-FSE) is distinguished by an alloy cylinder block, a double variable valve timing system (DVVT-i), direct injection D-4 and a timing chain drive. Paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the engine is able to accelerate this sports sedan from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour in just 5.8 seconds. And on one liter of fuel the car is capable of driving up to 9.3 km. Lexus GS460 is presented only in the rear-wheel drive version. The front and rear suspension is independent. Front and rear brakes are ventilated discs. The standard adjustable adaptive suspension (AVS) includes a body position control system. The system eliminates body roll in corners, providing passengers with the highest level of comfort. The driver can change the settings, choosing from several modes, including the most "hard" sports. The steering system also includes an electric power steering with a variable gear ratio. Numerous electronic systems are responsible for active safety: anti-lock braking (ABS), auxiliary braking Brake Assist (BA), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), stability control (ESP) and traction control (TCS). The standard holding devices include 10 airbags, belts with pretensioners, active head restraints. In addition: a parking assistance system, adaptive front lighting, tire pressure monitoring. The top-end Version L package includes the Pre-Collision pre-emergency safety system with radar and adaptive cruise control. Thanks to its powerful engine and high-tech chassis, the Lexus GS is well prepared for active driving. The new flagship demonstrates more power than the predecessor GS430, and in terms of luxury offers a complete set of all the equipment that was provided for the restyled cars of this generation. However, it is not possible to meet the flagship Lexus GS on Russian sites - the version with a 4.6-liter engine in itself is quite exclusive for the Russian market, and this is especially true for cars with a right-hand drive.
