On July 23, 2015, Japan launched sales of the Lexus IS sedan with a two-liter 8AR-FTS engine, already familiar from the NX200t. The engine is paired with an 8-speed Sport Direct Shift electronically controlled automatic transmission. The multi-information display gives a graphic hint when to shift gears, and the selector on the center console allows you to choose one of three driving modes: Eco, Normal or Sport. The third-generation Lexus IS is built on the Toyota New N platform with front suspension on double wishbones. This is slightly more expensive than the cost-effective rear-wheel drive IS250 in 2014, replaced by the IS200t. As an alternative to this version, a hybrid IS300h with rear-wheel drive or the flagship IS350 can serve.
