Lexus IS 250 2006 model year is positioned as a sports sedan luxury-class. It is equipped with a new 2.5-liter 6-cylinder V-shaped gasoline engine. In Japan, Lexus IS replaced the popular sports sedan Toyota Altezza, which in other markets was sold as the first-generation Lexus IS. Compared to its predecessor, Lexus IS significantly increased in size, its wheelbase has grown to 2730mm. At the same time, it is a typical representative of a premium brand, with all the characteristic features, including luxury interior and a rich list of equipment. In 2008, the car went through restyling, which made small changes to the interior and exterior, the suspension was reconfigured. The next restyling took place in 2010 - the car received new headlights with gas discharge and LED lamps, the design of the rear combined brake lights has changed. The radiator grill has slightly changed, new alloy wheels are installed. In the Japanese market, the Lexus IS 250 was offered with the highest possible choice of trim levels, the list of which has repeatedly been “redrawn” over the years of production. The basic version, the price of which in 2005 amounted to 3,900 thousand yen, offered 17-inch alloy wheels, xenon headlights, front fog lights, a keyless entry system, keyless entry, electric front seats, climate control, and a rain sensor. The options offered: a sunroof, premium audio system Mark Levinson, DVD, parking sensors. In the “Version S” package, the buyer received 18-inch wheels, sports seats, a suspension reconfigured for more active driving, and for the “Version L” the standard was a leather interior, an electric rear curtain, heated and ventilated seats, an electric power steering column, steering wheel trim and gear knobs in a combination of "wood-leather" and many other functions. From 2006 to 2008, the intermediate version “Version I” was produced, which offered part of the equipment of the top version. In 2009, a new, more spectacular sports specification “Version F” appeared. Special series were also produced, such as “Art Works” or “X-Edition” with special color accents in the interior, as well as the exclusive “Elegant white interior”, which was released only in Japan in a limited edition of 700 pieces. The Lexus IS250 has a 2.5-liter 4GR-FSE engine. This V-shaped 6-cylinder power unit has an aluminum cylinder block, a variable valve timing system on the dual-VVTi intake and exhaust camshafts, a variable-length manifold, and a direct fuel injection system. In the Japanese specification, it produces 215 hp. (158 kW) and a torque of 260 Nm. The car was presented in two drive options: rear and full (AWD). Both options were offered in Japan only with an automatic 6-speed gearbox. Lexus IS front suspension is independent, with double wishbones with springs, a single-tube gas shock absorber and anti-roll bar. The rear one is also independent, multi-link, with coil springs, an inverted single-tube gas shock absorber and anti-roll bar. In 2008, the undercarriage was modernized, which allowed to achieve a higher level of comfort when driving.
The car is equipped with 8 airbags, including, for the first time in a car of this class, two airbags to protect the knees of the driver and front passenger. Lexus IS250 standard equipment also includes an anti-lock brake system with electronic brake force distribution and emergency braking, traction control and stability control. In the options: parking assistance system and adaptive cruise control. The latter is integrated into the pre-emergency safety system, which uses a radar sensor, including to detect the likelihood of a collision, and prepares car systems to reduce the severity of the consequences. In crash tests, the car received high results.
As already mentioned, in the Japanese market, Lexus IS acted as the successor to Toyota Altezza, which is well known in Russia as a representative of the right-hand drive segment. Pre-owned Lexus IS250s with right-hand drive are interesting for their pricing and features, and may provide an alternative to second-generation dealerships. Modification Lexus IS250, although inferior in luxury to the flagship IS350, but demonstrates all the best features of the model range, including excellent driving performance, and offers various types of drive (rear and full) and a wide selection of equipment for the domestic Japanese market.
