When looking in profile, you can see that the new IS has retained the proportions of the previous model, as well as its characteristic bending of the lower window line on the rear doors. At the same time, designers added elegance and dynamism to the face - with the help of a line rising from the thresholds to the rear wheel arches. The car received a spindle-shaped radiator grill inherent in the new Lexus models, a new head optics unit with L-shaped daytime running lights located separately under the headlights, taillights far beyond the side walls. In their desire to surpass competitors from the "big German three", the Japanese hone the design. So, the V-shaped “six” with a volume of 2.5 liters with combined injection (208 hp), which is equipped with the IS250, and the front two-link suspension are borrowed just from the previous IS. The rear suspension is new, as is the steering gear. As a result, in terms of driving performance, “IS” became more interesting than its predecessor, noticeably quieter at high speeds and rose to another level in the performance of interior materials. The driver-oriented interior is inspired by the LFA supercar. The architecture of the front panel has been completely revised, but there was a place for a multimedia display and analog clock. The center console for the first time at Lexus has electrostatic touch controls that allow you to adjust the air temperature in the air conditioning system with the touch of a finger. In addition, the new IS has become more spacious due to the increased width of the body and the extended wheelbase. There was also a practical innovation: second-row seats can add up to a 60:40 ratio. The IS 250 equipment in the Comfort package includes bi-xenon headlights, front and rear parking sensors, combined seat trim (faux leather and fabric). In more expensive trim levels: already fully leather-trimmed seats, power seats for the driver’s seat, an intelligent car access system, ventilated front seats, memory for the driver’s seat and steering wheel. The top version of the car offers fully LED optics (including headlights), an electric sunroof, and a premium Mark Levinson audio system with 15 speakers.

 The Lexus IS250 is equipped with a 2.5-liter, direct-injection 6-cylinder V-twin petrol engine inherited from the previous generation (XE20) and the advanced Dual VVT-i variable valve timing system. The maximum engine output is 207 horsepower, achieved at 6400 rpm, and the maximum torque is 250 Nm (at 4800 rpm). Power is transmitted to the rear drive wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift capability. The car accelerates to 100 km / h in 8.1 seconds. and reaches a maximum speed of 225 km / h.

 The front suspension of the third Lexus IS is independent, with double wishbones. The new design of the rear multi-link suspension has improved grip and handling of this rear-wheel drive vehicle. Changes include a new power steering. Drive Mode Select offers a variety of speaker tuning modes based on driver preferences. The full-time integrated vehicle dynamics control (VDIM) system raises the set of active systems to a more efficient level. In the new generation, the body frame has an even greater degree of rigidity, reliably protecting the driver and passengers. Standard equipment includes 8 airbags. The composition of the systems is supplemented by already familiar functions such as tracking “blind spots”, dynamic cruise control, a lane preservation system, automatic high beam control, etc. d.

 The third-generation Lexus IS, slightly grown in size, set new horizons for the development of the D-class of this brand. It has become safer and more comfortable. However, with regard to the IS250 version, the presence of a largely outdated engine forced the manufacturer to find the replacement as quickly as possible, which was the Lexus IS200t in 2015. Under the hood of this model, a turbocharged 2-liter engine is installed on the Lexus IS for the first time, an 8-speed automatic transmission is used in conjunction with it, guaranteeing even more dynamics with lower fuel consumption.
