Sales of the third-generation Lexus RX crossover in Japan began in January 2009. Initially, the model was offered in one modification - the RX350 in all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive. In April of that year, a hybrid version of the RX450h was added. And only in August 2010, sales of the Lexus RX270 crossover began - a simplified modification that provides only front-wheel drive performance. The conclusion of a more affordable version of the RX was designed to foster interest in the model in different markets: Japan, China, Russia, and Southeast Asian countries. The new RX270 has become another brand model that has received a new corporate design. A characteristic feature is the spindle-shaped false radiator grille.
In the Japanese market, the Lexus RX270 was initially provided with four trim levels: basic, “Version S”, “Version L”, as well as the specification of the basic version of “Art Works” in a special design. Standard equipment includes: front fog lights with washers, bi-xenon headlights, LED running lights, LED rear lights, side mirrors in body color (electric, heated and auto-adjusting function in reverse), steering wheel with telescopic and vertical adjustment, fabric upholstery , electric front seats, audio system with 8 speakers, dual-zone climate control. Options include: leather interior, seat heating, position memory, and others. The Version S package offers a leather steering wheel, 19-inch wheels and a retuned suspension. The “Version L” set includes a steering wheel and gear knob with wood-leather inserts and a standard leather interior. In 2011, there were two trim levels - standard and “Version L”, while the level of equipment of both was expanded. The basic equipment includes: electric rear door, headlight washers, new security systems, etc.

Under the hood of the Lexus RX270 is a 1AR-FE engine - this 4-cylinder power unit is used on Toyota Venza, Toyota Highlander and Toyota Sienna, as well as on some Lexus models. The 2.7-liter engine is equipped with a proprietary valve timing system (Dual VVT-i) and is tuned for 188 hp. power and 252 Nm of torque. Transmission - 6-speed automatic. According to the claimed characteristics, the RX270 spends only 11 seconds to accelerate to 100 km / h, and the maximum speed is 200 km / h. In this case, the gasoline consumption in the combined cycle is 9.8 liters per 100 km. The curb weight with the driver is 1915-2025 kg, depending on the configuration.

The chassis of the car includes a fully independent suspension (front McPherson strut, rear double wishbone design), disc brakes (ventilated front), an active electric power steering that changes the force depending on the speed of movement. Compared with its predecessor, the third RX added in size. Its length is 4770 mm, height - 1725 mm, width - 1885 mm. Standardly rely 18-inch alloy wheels. Ground clearance - 175-180 mm. The restraint systems include front and side airbags, curtain airbags and knee airbags for the driver and passenger. From the electronic “helpers”: anti-lock braking system with brake force distribution, auxiliary braking system, electronic stability control and traction control system, as well as an assistance system when starting on an ascent, cruise control, parking sensors (option). Since 2011, adaptive road lighting has been standard equipment.

It should be noted that the Lexus RX270 is the only representative of the RX family, which is equipped only with front-wheel drive. The electronic stabilization system partly solves the problem, but if the presence of 4WD is fundamental, it is worth taking a closer look at the RX350. Do not forget that the RX270 was created to please the environmental performance and needs of those customers who do not need all-wheel drive. It is a common solution for the Japanese market, providing for the greatest possible variety of modifications.
