The car is a middle-class sedan, which first went on sale in May 1992. The car was sold by Autozam, which was an integral part of the Mazda multichannel network of cars. Being one of the many relatives of the Cronos lineup, he was thus part of the main family of Capella machines. Translated from English, the word Clef means "musical key." The car was easily recognizable by the peculiar design of its front end. At that time, a number of concessions appeared in the tax rules, and many thought that there was no need to save especially on the size of the car. As a result, the demand for middle-class sedans, which began to be produced with a body of the 3rd dimensional group, sharply increased. The width of the described car is 1750 mm, which is more than enough. And one more feature: the car body was of a bearing type (monocoque), which made it possible to make the backs of the rear seats movable, heaped forward. And this, in turn, made it possible to connect the trunk to the passenger compartment if it was necessary to load oversized baggage.

  The car had only front-wheel drive, and the transmission for it was provided for only one type - a 4-speed automatic. Engines are 2-liter and 2.5-liter, both with two camshafts and a 24-valve timing, EGI. The engine is a new development, 6-cylinder, transverse, the cylinders are divorced by 60 degrees. The year following the debut, in November, the lineup was replenished with an all-wheel drive version of the Full Time 4WD type machine, with a fluid coupling in combination with a 4-cylinder in-line engine with a working volume of 2 liters. The Clef concept is a new-day sports sedan for the new era. But it so happened that the time when the middle-class sedans were popular was over. The project for multichannel distribution of their cars ended unsuccessfully for Mazda. Therefore, the implementation of this car was very difficult. In 1994, it was decided to remove it from production. In general, the number of cars produced was extremely small, in fact it is a kind of rare model.
