After the popular Suzuki Wagon R minivan survived the complete replacement of its lineup, the same thing happened with the twin model - the Mazda AZ-Wagon. So, in October 1998, the second-generation AZ-Wagon was released.
  The interior of the new version of the car has become even more spacious, so now 4 adults could freely accommodate in it. Numerous options for transforming the seats in the cabin have become even simpler to perform. It was decided to stay only on the 5-door version of the body.

 The engine still had 3 cylinders, the working volume of which was all the same 660 cubic meters. see, but this time he had as many as 4 variations. A motor with a single gas distribution shaft (SOHC) was installed on an FG category car, which could develop power up to 52 horsepower. The model of the category FX was equipped with an engine with two camshafts (DOHC) with a capacity of 55 liters. pp., the FX-T model (all-wheel drive version) was armed with a motor that developed 60 horsepower. Noteworthy was the forced intake system, called the “super intelligent turbo” (gas turbine operating in a gentle mode). This turbine is as usual, but its advantage is that fuel consumption during its operation is significantly reduced. Such a turbine is very suitable for city driving, as it can smoothly change the operating parameters even at low or medium speed.

  The car could have both a front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. True, for a car of the FG category, only front-wheel drive was provided. The gearbox is either a 5-speed manual or a 3-speed automatic. And only on the model RR-F Turbo was a 4-speed "automatic". For some categories of the car, an option was provided when the transmission control knob is located on the steering column.
