Mazda Demio DE, 3 generation 07.2007 - 05.2011

3 generation
(DE) 07.2007 - 05.2011
3 generation
The model first appeared on the market in 1996, demonstrating a new direction in the segment of compact cars with excellent functionality. The third-generation Demio concept was a return to the sources of a compact car and farewell with a high body. Taking into account the needs of potential buyers, a car was created that was better focused on improving the convenience of everyday use, including such an indicator as efficiency. Compared to its predecessor, the new model “dropped” as much as 100 kg, the weight of the basic modification with a 1.3-liter engine is less than a ton. The appearance of the model expresses dynamics due to the qualitatively selected lines of shapes and a combination of optics. Despite the fact that the dimensions of the body slightly decreased, the car has retained a comfortable interior.
With the exception of the Sport modification, which has become a top-level category, all other versions of Demio are indicated in a completely new way, with an alphanumeric index. In the basic version 13C, the buyer is offered manual air conditioning, power accessories, tilt-adjustable steering column, CD player, rear wiper. However, even here, xenon headlights, a rear spoiler, navigation with a hard drive, alloy wheels, tinted windows, and a leather steering wheel are available as an option. Before restyling, a more accessible version of 13F was also offered, where there was not even a CD player. As for the more expensive Demio trim levels, they can be equipped with fog lights, a front spoiler, an engine start button, electric front seats, a rain sensor. In 2011, a new SKYACTIV modification appeared with new generation engines and all kinds of “advanced” options like start-stop and eco-drive systems and other electronic assistants, improved aerodynamic body kit, original rims, LED optics, etc. P.

Initially, the Mazda Demio used the engines of the previous series - a 1.3-liter ZJ and a 1.5-liter ZY with 91 and 113 hp. The first engine was equipped with different types of transmissions: a 5-speed "mechanics", a 4-speed "automatic" (including all-wheel drive) and a continuously variable variator (ZJ-VEM, 90 hp). The one and a half liter unit came only with “mechanics” or a CVT, in which the possibility of fixed gears (7 steps) was provided. At the same time, versions with a variator have good economy - on one liter they can run 20 (1.5 liters) - 23 (1.3 liters) kilometers. The appearance of the new 1.3-liter P3-VPS engine, the actual volume of which is even smaller (1298 “cubes” versus 1348 for ZJ), working according to the Miller cycle, in combination with the variator, gives an even higher indicator of efficiency - up to 30 kilometers on one liter. The third-generation Demio wheelbase has remained the same as the previous series (in fact, this is the same platform with minor changes), but, as already mentioned, the car has become shorter, however, only 40 mm, however, this is a small plus in favor of maneuverability . Demio can quite confidently feel outside the urban environment (of course, not only on the highway) - the ground clearance is from 140 to 155 mm depending on the version, which is generally good. The suspension is still the same: the struts in the front and the torsion beam at the rear. The all-wheel drive system for parts with a 1.3-liter engine and automatic transmission uses the e-4WD system with an electric motor on the rear axle.

The safety of the new generation Demio was significantly improved due to the manufacturer’s thorough work on the body, which received an omnidirectional stiffness structure of increased strength of a new design like MAGMA - as a result, the car improved its performance in crash tests. If we talk about equipment, then it includes standard frontal airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system), EBD (electronic brake force distribution system), Brake Assist (auxiliary braking system). Optional: front side airbags and curtain airbags. In more expensive trim levels, a dynamic stabilization system is possible. The 2007 Mazda Demio is one of the best urban compact cars. Small dimensions, good handling, practicality - all this is also the case for other representatives of this class. But not everyone has such a harmonious set of characteristics - lightness, agility, maneuverability and economy, combined with an affordable price. Today, this model has gained even more fans, which is promoted by a big name and a successful history of operation of previous generations.
