In 1993, the production of Mazda Lantis cars began. The car was available in two types of body: hatchback and sedan. Among other cars, the model stands out for its combined rear optics. The car was created on the CB platform, common with the Eunos 500 and Mazda Capella 1994 model year. For the Japanese market, modifications were made with right-hand drive. In other markets, the Mazda Lantis sedan is known as the Mazda Astina and Mazda 323F. In the Japanese market, the Mazda Lantis sedan was not popular, but the model was successful in Europe, which allowed to recoup the costs of developing a new model. Production was completely discontinued in 1998.
The Mazda Lantis sedan is a mid-range sports car designed for five people, but if necessary, the rear row of seats can be removed. The dimensions of the "Japanese" are as follows: length - 4490 mm, width - 1695 mm, height - 1355 mm. Wheelbase - 2605 mm. Ground clearance - 15 centimeters. A roomy trunk of 430 liters is provided for the carriage of goods. Sedan Mazda Lantis has excellent speed qualities, accelerating from zero to hundreds in 9 seconds. This was facilitated by the characteristics of the engine and transmission. The Mazda Lantis sedan was equipped with the most powerful engines available in the Lantis lineup: a 1.8 liter I4 (135 hp) and a 2.0 liter V6 (170 hp). Both engines ran on gasoline and consumed 7.9 to 10 liters of fuel in the combined cycle. The volume of the gas tank is 55 liters. Two transmission options were available: a four-speed automatic and five-speed mechanics.

All modifications to the sedan were front-wheel drive. The car suspension consists of depreciation struts with coil springs and a stabilizer (McPherson strut is installed in front). The Type R package features a limited slip differential (LSD). The suspension of the sedan is notable for the tough tuning, uncharacteristic for cars manufactured for the Japanese market. This was done by increasing leverage. Sedan brakes - disc (ventilated front).

The Mazda Lantis sedan was available in Type G, Type R, Type S and Type X trim levels. The Type G package includes power steering, power side mirrors, vertical steering wheel adjustment, power windows, front airbags, child seat mounts and a cassette player. Other versions were supplemented by climate control, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and brake force distribution (EBD), side airbags and curtain airbags.

Options Type R was produced only for the Japanese market and differed from the rest in the presence of a limited slip differential and a rear spoiler. It was available only in conjunction with a two-liter engine.
