This passenger car, the heir to the Bravo model, was launched in 1999. Town Box was produced in a 5-door version, where the doors are located as follows: 2 front doors + 2 sliding doors + rear "gates". There are 4 seats. The chassis uses the central location of the engine relative to the wheelbase. Due to the fact that the wheels are placed at the very corners (with a minimal overhang), it has an increased wheelbase and more comfortable driving performance. This model is equipped with a 3-cylinder 12-valve SOHC Lean Burn engine or a 4-cylinder 20-valve turbocharged engine.
The box-like appearance of the Mitsubishi Town Box is very practical to use. Low located thresholds are convenient for landing and disembarking. The thoughtful design of the front and rear seats makes the cabin comfortable. The front panel looks very functional, in the upper part there are trays for small items, roomy compartments are provided, the “tidy” is quite informative, and the basic configuration has an air conditioner and front electric windows. Some of the interior details of the Town Box model 2000 model year recalls its "adult" counterparts - for example, it has a good supply of legroom for those sitting behind, as well as separate captain-type rear seats with armrests, adjustable backrests and an aisle to the trunk. In the most expensive version, Town Box offered a standard sunroof, alloy wheels, radio, and an external body kit and rear spoiler, wood trim panels were installed for a fee. The special “Select” design featured chrome mirrors, special headlights, improved seat upholstery, etc.

For the Town Box car in 1999, the manufacturer proposed two engine options. Simple modifications were received by the SOHC 3-cylinder 12-valve aspirated valve, which bears the brand 3G83, in a modernized form it came from the Bravo model and is also familiar from Minica, Toppo BJ and other small Mitsubishi cars. The Town Box has it configured for 48 horsepower (at 6,000 rpm) and a torque of 62 Nm (at 4,000 rpm). Turbocharged versions are equipped with a 4A30 brand 20-valve 4-cylinder DOHC unit. It gives out 64 “forces” (at 6500 rpm) and 98 Nm (at 3000 rpm). There are four-wheel drive (4WD Easy Select) and four-wheel drive options. The Town Box engine is powered by a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.  The suspension of the Mitsubishi Town Box is structurally very simple: front independent, rear dependent, both spring, guaranteeing a completely comfortable ride. Brakes - disc front and drum rear. Steering - with hydraulic booster. It differs from many of the "younger" models of the Town Box company by its longer base - its size is 2390 mm, which is exactly 5 cm larger than that of the Minica and Toppo BJ, which, together with the optimal use of the internal space, gives a gain in the dimensions of the cabin. As a result, with the dimensions of the body complying with the standard for key cars (3395 x 1475 x 1890 mm - L x W x H), the dimensions of the Town Box are quite sufficient for four 1840 x 1220 x 1325 mm. The rear separate seats in the Town Box 1999-2000 models fold, allowing you to get a large trunk with a flat floor. If you remove the head restraints of the front seats, you can fold their backs flush with the surface of the rear seat cushion. Model Mitsubishi Town Box 1999-2000 was standardly equipped with driver and passenger airbags, three-point belts, side impact protection amplifiers in the doors. An anti-lock brake system was offered as an option. The front of the body has increased safety indicators due to the fact that the car is a one-compartment with a semi-hood layout.  In less than a year, the “city box” has received a number of changes to become even better. The Town Box has a new more economical turbo engine, the level of equipment has increased. If we talk about the merits, then this is spaciousness, maneuverability and dynamics (with a turbo engine). There are also disadvantages: the car is light and unstable on the highway, rather weak with the atmospheric engine.
