Nissan 180SX 1 generation, restyling 08.1996 - 12.1998

Model 180 SX debuted in 1989, and was discontinued only in 1998. It is considered a sports car - a "long-liver." Had a rear-wheel drive. Special feature: double folding headlights, as on the Silvia S13 hatchback. The number 180 in the name means the displacement of the engine (1.8 liters), which the car was equipped with at first, and the letters SX are serial marking of Nissan cars. Abroad, this car was known - and fairly well received - under the name 240SX, from which we can understand that there it was produced with a 2.4-liter engine. Initially, the 180SX was seen as an addition to the Silvia range. But in 1991, taking into account the wishes of customers in the American market, a partial modernization was carried out, as a result of which a 2-liter engine appeared on the car. This was the final “exit” of the 180SX model from the Silvia lineup, and further development proceeded separately. Only the chassis of the car is left of the parent model (S13). Initially, the car was equipped only with a turbo engine with a working volume of 1.8 liters (Type I&II). Then, in 1991, a model with a 2-liter engine appeared. Following the birth of the new Silvia S14, the Type III began production in 1992. In 1994, the marking was changed, and the cars became known as Type R and Type X. In 1996, the car underwent another modernization, as a result of which serious changes were made to the appearance. The model range was supplemented by a Type S modification with a simple, naturally aspirated engine. At the last stage of the existence of this model range at the end of 1997, another model was produced, the distinguishing feature of which was the bright yellow body color. The car was made on the basis of the Type S model, but had a more expensive configuration. She got the name Type G.
