Wagon
This mid-range station wagon is based on the second-generation Primera. Avenir W11 has a roomy luggage compartment with a flat floor and multi-link rear suspension, thanks to which the car shows excellent stability on the road and has excellent handling. Attention is paid to such structural elements of this model, such as, for example, the 4WD ATTESA system characteristic of Nissan and the new generation transmission CVT-M6, which is used on models equipped with 2-liter 4-cylinder in-line engines. It also installs 2-liter turbo engines and 1.8-liter “aspirated”. In addition, there are models equipped with 2 liter diesel engines.
In the second generation, Avenir retained a recognizable silhouette with a distinctly large rear overhang and a spacious luggage compartment, the dimensions of which will appeal to connoisseurs of generalists. A big plus is the presence of a luggage rack, a separately opening rear window, and powerful roof rails. The Salut J basic equipment has air conditioning, power accessories, tilt-adjustable steering wheel, rear wiper, separately folding rear seats, and additional options included foglights, rear spoiler, body kit, alloy wheels. A powerful version of the GT4-Z in addition to the standard turbo engine offered a leather steering wheel, climate control, CD player, xenon headlights. The sporty exterior combines a body kit in a circle and standard 15-inch alloy wheels. The Rider model also stood out among the trim levels, it was distinguished by a modified front part with a chrome “cross” of the false radiator grille and a powerful grille in the bumper with horizontal chrome lamellas. This car could also be equipped with a turbo engine.

The range of engines offered for the 1998-2000 Nissan Avenir W11 included the QG18DE base unit (1.8 L, 125 L sec.), SR20DE engine (2.0 L, 140-145 hp), its turbocharged version SR20DET (2.0 L, 230 HP) and CD20ET turbo diesel engine (2.0 L, 91 L .with.). The younger engine was equipped with a mechanical 5-speed gearbox or a 4-speed automatic. The two-liter “aspirated” provided options with an “automatic” (4WD) and a new CVT continuously variable transmission with a 6-speed manual mode, and turbocharged models 2. 0DT and 2.0 GT4 were equipped only with automatic transmission, and in the model class GT4, by default, four-wheel drive and a standard limited slip differential (LSD) were installed. Avenir W11 was distinguished by a reduced fuel consumption - for example, in gasoline models, the efficiency indicator improved from the previous 8.5-13.4 kilometers per liter of fuel to 8.8-14.8 km / l. The volume of the tank is the same 60 liters.

Station wagon Nissan Avenir W11 has MacPherson strut independent front suspension. The rear suspension is now also independent, multi-link. All models have power steering, ventilated disc brakes at the front, and rear brakes with drum or disc brakes. Tire size - 185 / 65R15 or 205 / 60R15 depending on the configuration. Compared with the previous generation, the body length of the Nissan Avenir increased by 40 mm and amounts to 4650 mm, the width and height remain the same - 1695 mm and 1450-1490 mm, respectively. The turning radius is 5.3-5.7 m. The wheelbase has increased from 2550 mm to 2620 mm. The dimensions of the cabin also changed - it stretched in length from 1800 to 1855 mm, its width is the same 1435 mm, and its height is 1190 mm (+5 mm).

Regardless of the configuration, the Nissan Avenir of the W11 generation was equipped with two airbags (for driver and passenger), an anti-lock braking system and an assistance system for braking, pretensioners and front seat belt force limiters, child seat fastenings, and door stiffeners. For an extra charge, side pillows were installed.

Numerous changes made the Avenir in the second generation more comfortable, roomy and more convenient on long trips. Among the positive aspects are the affordable price, quite reliable engines. Cons - low ground clearance and large overhangs, the body is susceptible to corrosion. As a result of a series of cosmetic changes that Avenir underwent in 2000, the front of the car has changed. It is worth noting that Nissan released a sister model Expert - a utilitarian version of the Avenir station wagon.
