In 1999, the second-generation Nissan March line was supplemented by the March Box version, which was awarded a separate place in the model range for its characteristics. This car has increased capacity due to the increased rear overhang (by 240 mm compared to the hatchback, plus a total body height of 25 mm more), while the total length of its body has grown almost to almost 4 meters (the wheelbase remains the same the size of a hatchback). In addition to the increased luggage compartment, the station wagon is standardly equipped with a rear sofa, the back of which is divided in respect to 60:40. March Box received all the design changes related to the restyling of the model in 1997: there was no separate radiator grill (it is combined with the hood), the design of the front bumper and headlights changed, and the taillights and bumper (with a protective pad over the entire length) March Box Original. Additional rear side windows improve visibility. The engines are the same as those of the hatchback - the in-line 4-cylinder DOHC power units with a volume of 1.0 and 1.3 liters with a capacity of 60 and 85 hp, updated since 1999.
The five-door station wagon Nissan March Box did not provide for a wide variety of trim levels. Its equipment is already close to fully functional. The basic equipment by default includes a rear wiper, aluminum rims, power windows and a central locking system, a radio with a CD player, and air conditioning. For a fee, the car offered fog lights, decorative wood accents, folding mirrors and more. The interior of the Nissan March Box is similar to a hatchback: modern and practical. Numerous places for storing small items (for example, a tray at the top of the front panel of the passenger compartment, a spacious glove compartment, a niche under the steering column, pockets in the front doors, etc.) are called upon to make the car even more convenient. d.). This is also facilitated by the luggage rack, an additional compartment in the floor and a backlight. Since 2000, the equipment has become even better - it became possible to install a DVD-system with navigation (option).

Nissan March Box offers two engine options: a 1.0-liter 60-horsepower CG10DE. (84 Nm) and a 1.3-liter 85-hp CGA3DE (120 Nm). Both 4-cylinder, 16-valve, type DOHC. Being a car of a higher class than the hatchback, the March Box station wagon was not equipped with “mechanics” - only a 4-speed automatic transmission or CVT variator was offered for the car. Nissan March Box is a very economical car - according to the accepted fuel consumption estimate in Japan, the station wagon is capable of driving 16 to 18 kilometers on one liter of gasoline, which, in terms of the usual indicators, is 5.6-6.25 l / 100 km. A good power reserve guarantees a decent fuel tank capacity of 42 liters.

Created on the basis of the front-wheel drive hatchback Nissan March of the second generation (K11), the March Box station wagon has an independent front and rear semi-independent suspension. Unlike restyled hatchbacks, the 4WD variant is not provided here. The car is equipped with steering gear type steering with power steering, disc front brakes and drum rear. The dimensions of the station wagon are as follows: length - 3980 mm, width - 1585 mm, height - 1450 mm. Wheelbase - 2360 mm. The minimum turning radius is 4.6-4.8 m. The car is equipped with 165 / 70R13 or 155 / 70R13 tires. Ground clearance height - 150 mm. The deep and roomy trunk makes the Nissan March Box comfortable for both day trips and leisure.

The standard equipment of Nissan March Box 1999-2002 includes two airbags (driver and front passenger), an anti-lock brake system, seat belts with a mechanism for attaching child seats and front belts with pretensioners. At the same time, in the crash tests of Euro NCAP in 1997, the car (Micra K11) received only two stars.

The second generation Nissan March, according to many experts, is considered one of the best compact models of its time. And the March Box station wagon created on its basis is an extremely functional model in a compact body. On sale, it is less common than a hatchback, but in many cases this is a winning option. In general, Nissan March (K11) is distinguished by high quality production, engine reliability. However, there are also disadvantages. The bodies are prone to corrosion, there are problems with the reliability of the variator, the suspension is stiff, and the 1.0-liter engine is rather weak.
