Nissan March is a compact hatchback that has won the hearts of millions of customers since its introduction on the market. The third generation March was launched in March 2002. The prototype of this car was presented at the Tokyo Auto Show, held in 2001. Despite the fact that a year has passed from the concept to the serial production of the machine, it has not lost its novelty and “freshness”. The appearance of the new March (K12) was developed in Japan, and the interior of the cabin in the European design studio Nissan. Like its predecessors, the car has received various awards more than once. All dimensions of the hatchback, with the exception of length, have increased, including the wheelbase (by 70 mm); due to this, the cabin has become much more spacious compared to the previous model, retaining three- or five-door body options. Another feature was the rear seat, which is shifted forward by 200 mm (option), which makes it possible to increase the boot volume one and a half times without folding. On March K12, engines of the new CR series were installed with a volume of 1.0 liter, 1.2 liter and 1.4 liter with a capacity of 68 to 108 “forces”, but the initial 1.0-liter unit did not last long in the line, the main rate was made by more powerful engines. So we can definitely say that March has become even a little higher class. The new Nissan March was conceived as a very fashionable car. This is facilitated by a bold exterior, in which the characteristic "frog eyes" and the profile a la "Beetle", as well as catchy body colors - a real "toy on wheels" stand out. The interior also used bright colors and high quality materials. The basic version has become better equipped. Even for the most inexpensive cars, full power accessories, air conditioning, steering wheel with tilt adjustment, CD player are standardly provided. All-wheel drive March is designated as “FOUR” and is equipped only with automatic transmission. A sporty version with an increased engine and manual transmission is the SR version with tuning from Autech Japan. Of course, special series in the original design like Bolero and Rafeet have not gone away. As usual, full-featured special versions deserve high marks, for example, the jubilee series 70th-II (2003), which includes folding mirrors, an automatic backlight system, an additional A4 size tray in the large-capacity glove box, and a partially folding back seat (60: 40). Complete sets “HDD Navi Edition” (2005) offered a full-time navigation system with a hard disk, and versions of the “Premium Interior” in addition to this - a leather steering wheel, climate control.

With the advent of the third generation March, the manufacturer not only expanded the offer for engines, but also increased their power. For March K12 of the first phase of production (2002-2005), four engines of the new CR series with a working volume of 1.0 liter, 1.2 liter (in two versions) and 1.4 liter were immediately offered. The base CR10DE delivers a maximum of 68 hp. (96 Nm) - it was installed on a hatchback until October 2003. The more powerful 1.2-liter CR12DE is presented with a return of 90 (121 Nm) and 108 (134 Nm) of “horses”. The 1.4-liter CR14DE engine has a maximum power of 97-98 hp. (136-137 Nm) depending on the drive (front or 4WD). There are two transmission options: a 5-speed “mechanics” or a 4-speed “automatic” with electronic control, and the mechanics were offered only for a 1.2 liter engine. All motors meet new standards for maximizing exhaust emissions. And on one liter of gasoline, the hatchback will travel from 16.6 to 21 km (4.76-6 l / 100 km). A good power reserve guarantees a decent fuel tank capacity of 41 liters.

The Nissan March of the third generation (K12) 2002-2005 has an independent front suspension and rear semi-independent. The drive of the car is front or full. In the latter case, Nissan introduced a new system called e-4WD (a separate electric motor and gearbox on the rear axle were added to the usual front-wheel drive circuit). The system is turned on from the button, it works quickly and efficiently, it turns off on the highway to save fuel. The hatchback is equipped with a gear-rack type steering with electric power, disc front brakes and drum rear. The March 12SR versions received a sports suspension and a sports power steering. The dimensions of the hatchback body: length - 3695 mm, width - 1660 mm, height - 1525 mm. Wheelbase - 2430 mm. The minimum turning radius is only 4.4 m. The car can be equipped with R14 or R15 rims. The ride height is 135-150 mm or 120 mm in a sports version. The luggage compartment of the Nissan March has a volume of 251-584 liters.

The safety of the third generation Nissan March has increased significantly - the car received 4 stars in the EuroNCAP rating in 2003. The standard equipment of all versions includes two front airbags (driver and front passenger), an anti-lock brake system with electronic brake force distribution and an emergency brake booster, seat belts with a child seat fastening mechanism and front belts with pretensioners. And for an extra charge - side airbags and curtains.

The third generation Nissan March, compared with its predecessors, has become even better - both in comfort and in performance. The car is very pleasant and easy to drive. There are also disadvantages. The bodies are not well protected against corrosion, the suspension is stiff, and the 1.0-liter engine is frankly weak (however, it was quickly abandoned). The e-4WD system helps on slippery roads, but is useless in snowdrifts and dirt and does not work when the ABS malfunctions.
