The first cars of this brand appeared on the North American market in December 2002 and literally in a matter of weeks gained immense popularity. The reason for this success is understandable, just say that the width of this car "for outdoor activities" exceeds 1.8 meters. Initially, no one even thought about offering such a whopper to a Japanese buyer. But the rumor that a Japanese car was being sold somewhere in America, and that it was a success, gradually reached Japan. And then a demonstration sample was exhibited at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2003, which further aroused the interest of the automotive public. Voices began to be heard for putting it into implementation on the domestic market.
And finally, in September 2004, the Murano car began to be sold in Japan, moreover, it was already converted to a “right” steering wheel. This is perhaps one of the few external differences between the models for the domestic and foreign market. True, it was decided that 18-inch tires should be one size smaller in width than is usual in America. And there’s probably one more difference: the side-view mirror on the front passenger side has acquired an integrated auxiliary mirror, as is customary for Japanese cars of this size.

But what you will not find on a European Murano car is the combination of a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine and a 4-speed automatic transmission. In the American market, a modification is successfully sold, in which a 3.5-liter engine is combined with a variator, and not only is the front-wheel drive mono drive, but also 4WD. And yet, the suspension of the Japanese car went through an additional reconfiguration, given the fact that the car will mainly have to move at a relatively low speed, whether it be a city or a suburban highway, even if it is called "high-speed". As for the interior decoration, except for the above-mentioned transfer of the steering wheel from left to right, there are no more differences. But even without it, everything looks very high quality: aluminum parts, a peculiar design, etc. In fact, a car of this class was in vain recorded in the category of SUV (“luxury passenger car for outdoor activities”). Rather, it is a kind of sports sedan, but only with increased cross-country ability.
