The versatile Exiga minivan is a close relative of the Legacy. This car is distinguished by optimal dimensions for a comfortable seating of seven people, as well as outstanding driving performance. The Legacy shares a low center of gravity, a horizontally opposed engine, Subaru's SI Chassis Concept and a symmetrical all-wheel drive system that allows the most efficient distribution of torque between the wheels. The Exiga is slightly wider, longer and taller than the Outback. An additional 11.5cm (11.5cm) in height provides passengers in the third row with more headroom. The exterior of the Subaru Exiga features a wing-shaped radiator grille, a rounded hood that smoothly flows into the bumper, and large headlights. It is worth noting that the design of the windows and body pillars has been carefully designed to provide the best possible visibility. All this is complemented by the optional panoramic roof of the car. The initial concept for the model was unveiled at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show, and sales began in the summer of 2008. The car acted as a replacement for the Subaru Traviq (a copy of the Opel Zafira with Subaru nameplates), which was discontinued in 2007. The proposed Exiga powertrain line includes 2.0 and 2.5 liter petrol engines with 148-225 hp. Front or full drive.
The Exiga has a spacious and comfortable interior. There are three rows of seating as standard, all at different levels: the first row is the lowest, and the rear passengers are at the highest level - like in a theater. For passengers in the rear, there is even an optional personal DVD multimedia system. Four configurations were offered on the Japanese market. 2.0i - basic model with standard equipment (seat height adjustment, remote control key, power accessories, air conditioning). The 2.0i-L package offers high quality interior trim, as well as an expanded set of standard equipment (alloy wheels, foglights, tinted windows, a wide range of additional options). Version 2.0i-S is a sports modification of the car with a naturally aspirated engine - it comes with a rear spoiler, body kit, 17-inch wheels, sports details in the interior. 2.0GT is a GT (grand touring) car with a powerful turbocharged power plant. Since the end of 2009, models with a 2.5-liter engine have been offered in 2 trim levels. 5iS. Numerous special editions are noteworthy, but the exclusive sports limited edition 2.0GT tuned by STI (tuned by STI) occupies a special place among them.

Under the hood of the Subaru Exiga in the most powerful version of the GT, a 2-liter turbocharged engine from Subaru Forester is installed, the engine power is 225 hp. sec., and the maximum torque is 326 Nm. When starting from a standstill to a speed of 100 km / h, this model, equipped with a 5-speed "automatic" and an all-wheel drive system, accelerates in 7.5 seconds. With a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine, the power reserve is 148 hp. (191 Nm), front-wheel drive or full. Initially, this version only offered an automatic 4-speed transmission. In the fall of 2009, a continuously variable transmission CVT was proposed, with which the power of the base engine increased to 150 hp. In December of the same year, the Exiga got a 2.5-liter engine paired with a 170-liter CVT. from. (229 Nm). Since August 2010, junior models are equipped with a CVT only. Depending on the modification in the 10/15 mode, the car is capable of driving up to 15-12.6 kilometers on one liter of fuel. The volume of the tank is 65 liters.

The Subaru Exiga chassis is built on the Subaru DC3 concept (dynamic control chassis), on the model with a turbocharged engine, the SI-Drive (Subaru Intelligent Drive) motor control system is installed. At the front, the Exiga has a MacPherson-type independent suspension. The rear suspension is an independent double wishbone, its use made it possible to create a very roomy trunk with a low floor. The car is equipped with an electric power steering, disc brakes on all wheels (front ventilated). The dimensions of the body of the model are: length - 4740 mm, width - 1755 mm, height - 1660 mm. The wheelbase is 2.75 m and the minimum turning radius is 5.5 m. Interior dimensions: 2720 x 1510 x 1275 mm. The luggage compartment has a volume of 430 liters.

Standard equipment Subaru Exiga includes front airbags, ABS with EBD, braking assist system (BAS), and for an additional fee - side airbags and curtain airbags, cruise control. Since September 2009, a new device called EyeSight has been installed in some modifications. It is part of the pre-crash safety system and includes perimeter cameras and 3D image processing software. The vehicle was highly praised by JNCAP. Among the advantages of the Subaru Exiga are quite high power indicators (if you do not take into account the basic version), handling, economy, supported by an interesting price. The increased roominess makes this car an excellent contender for the role of a family car, but in terms of body size it is larger than seven-seat competitors like Toyota Isis, Nissan Lafesta, Mazda Premacy. Among the shortcomings, the owners call a low stance and a suspension that is weak for our roads, a large front overhang and specific features associated with servicing the "boxer".
