Wagon
Sedan
Subaru Impreza production began in 1992. The first generation model was available in three body styles at once: sedan, station wagon and coupe, but the latter, besides Japan, was offered only in certain markets. As for the station wagon, it is similar in size to a sedan and, although it was positioned as a Sport Wagon, in style and functionality it is closer to compact sports hatchbacks than to traditional five-door station wagons. The reason is the significant tilt of the tailgate, which gives the car a more dynamic look, but reduces the useful volume when loaded above the window line. With the restyling of the Impreza, the front end was changed, and soon the interior was redesigned in the car, some technical changes were made. The car was equipped with Subaru branded horizontally opposed 4-cylinder engines - for Europe this is the base unit of 1.6 liters, as well as 2.0-liter: naturally aspirated and turbocharged.
After restyling, the GL version becomes standard for the Subaru Impreza station wagon in the European market. The equipment includes electric mirrors with body-colored bodies, roof rails, rear wiper, hydraulic booster, tilt steering and driver's seat height adjustment, power windows and central locking, radio preparation with an antenna and 4 speakers. For a surcharge, an air conditioner, headlight washers, and alloy wheels were installed. In 1997, a special Season series was released for the Impreza with a 2.0-liter engine with standard alloy wheels, air conditioning, and with a manual transmission, the car is equipped with a anti-rollback system (Hill Holder). The Classic series was also offered with leather interior, heated front seats and a full range of available safety systems. Versions 2.0 RX have a sports styling kit, 15-inch wheels, fog lights. The 2.0 GT Turbo has a bonnet intake, rear wing, 16-inch wheels and full disc brakes, a Momo sports steering wheel and bucket seats, and the suspension is tuned for more active driving. The most popular version of the Subaru Impreza in the European market was equipped with a 2.0-liter power unit with 85 kW or 115 hp. and a torque of 172 Nm. After modernization in 1997, this engine's power increased to 125 "forces", torque - to 184 Nm, while the engine began to meet the new Euro 2 exhaust standard. In the current formation, it was also possible to find Imprezas on sale, equipped with a 1.6-liter engine (95 hp, 143 Nm), and the power of the 2-liter turbo model for Europe was 211 hp. (290 Nm), allowing the station wagon to accelerate to "hundreds" in 6.5 seconds. In 1999, the result was improved by one tenth - the power of the Model 2. 0 GT Turbo increased to 218 "forces".

The Subaru Impreza offers the best driving performance in the compact class. Ideal road handling is ensured by fully independent suspension, power steering for improved agility, and permanent all-wheel drive. The distribution of traction along the axles is provided by the center differential. In cars with an automatic transmission, this function is assigned to the viscous clutch. If we talk about the dimensions of the body of the station wagon Subaru Impreza, then they are: length 4350 mm, width 1690 mm, height 1455 mm (with roof rails). The wheelbase is 2520 mm and the turning radius is 5.2 meters. The luggage capacity of the 1996-2000 Impreza station wagon is indicated by the manufacturer at 365 liters according to the VDA standard. The asymmetrically folding rear sofa increases the trunk of the 5-door Impreza to 1282 liters.

The following safety systems were offered for the Impreza 1996-2000. These are two front airbags for the driver and passenger, a 4-channel anti-lock braking system, three-point seat belts in the front and outer rear seats. The all-wheel drive is also an excellent support for confident and safe driving on slippery and muddy roads. The first generation Subaru Impreza attracted by high quality workmanship, good aerodynamic performance, decently trimmed interior with comfortable front seats, as well as an optimally tuned, moderately stiff suspension. There were also downsides: not enough rear space, little storage space. Owners of used cars note some difficulties in finding spare parts and in servicing a boxer engine.
Subaru Impreza production began in 1992. The first generation model was available in three body styles at once: sedan, station wagon and coupe, but the latter, besides Japan, was offered only in certain markets. As for the sedan, it is characterized by a streamlined shape, a wedge-shaped front end and a relatively small rear end. Due to the presence of a rear axle and a complex suspension, the trunk turned out to be not very roomy. But it is a tribute to the expressed sportiness and polished behavior on the road, thanks to the presence of permanent all-wheel drive.
