The Suzuki SX4 succeeded the Suzuki Liana. In addition to the hatchback, a four-door version of the Suzuki SX4 Saloon was released - a sedan that, in terms of size and spaciousness, corresponds to the European segment C, was presented to the public at the Geneva Motor Show 2007. In 2009, a small update of the model took place. During the modernization, changes affected the external appearance of the model: a coarse-mesh false radiator grille, aerodynamic lining, new fog lights of a smaller size, light-alloy 16-inch five-spoke wheels of a fresh design appeared. The updated Suzuki SX4 sedan is available in eight color shades. Among other things, the noise and vibration isolation of the engine compartment and gearbox, as well as the smoothness of the ride, were improved. The power of the upgraded 1.6 16V engine increased from 107 to 112 hp.
 A new level of comfort and ergonomics in the cabin is ensured by the soft decoration of the door armrests, stylish seat upholstery, chrome interior door handles and a modified front panel with a central speaker and an updated instrument panel, in the center of which there is a liquid-crystal information display on-board computer. The rich basic equipment of the SX4 includes: electric mirrors, rear fog lights, a steering wheel with vertical adjustment, central locking and electric windows, air conditioning, audio pre-installation (antenna, 4 speakers). More expensive equipment additionally offers front fog lights, an audio system with steering wheel controls and MP3 support, a leather steering wheel braid, chrome trim and more. It is worth noting the fact that there are many pleasant and useful things in the car interior, such as special compartments for storing small items, including a box under the front passenger seat, various pockets, drink holders and other convenient solutions.

 The car received an updated 1.6-liter 16-valve 4-cylinder engine, the power of which increased from 107 to 112 liters. with. (82 kW), and the maximum torque increased from 145 to 150 Nm and is already available from 3800 rpm (previously - from 4000). The engine meets the requirements of the Euro 4 environmental standard. One of the innovations has been the introduction of a variable intake manifold (IMT) system, which provides optimal torque over a wide engine speed range. To improve the combustion process and thereby optimize engine performance, the ignition system (SDLI) has been modified. The motor is aggregated to a choice of a five-speed manual or four-band automatic transmission. The fuel consumption in the urban cycle is 8.4 l / 100 km for a car with a manual transmission and 9.5 l / 100 km with an automatic. Outside the city, depending on the transmission, the car consumes 5.5 or 5.8 liters of gasoline. Accordingly, the average consumption is 6.5 and 7.1 l / 100 km. The fuel tank has a capacity of 50 l. The front suspension of the Suzuki SX4 is an independent, McPherson strut suspension strut. The rear suspension is semi-independent, torsion beam. The sedan has front ventilated disc brakes, and the rear can be drum or disc. Suzuki SX4 received an electric power steering (gear-rack). With a body length of 4.49 m and a width of 1.73 m, the SX4 sedan fits perfectly into the data of an average class “C” car. The height of his body is 1.45 m, while the driver is provided with a sufficiently high landing, and the ground clearance of 165 mm will make it possible to move with even greater confidence even on poor quality roads. The SX4 is characterized by significant internal space - there is quite enough legroom at the back, an impressive volume has a luggage compartment (515 liters). Parts of the rear seatback are folded so that long items can be placed. The high level of torsional and bending rigidity of the body, as well as the durable power elements of the interior, ensure the Suzuki SX4 high driving performance and increased safety. In the presence of a safety pedal assembly, children's locks on the rear doors, a manual headlight range control. As standard, the sedan has ABS (anti-lock braking system, which helps to avoid wheel lock during sudden braking or when braking on slippery roads), complemented by electronic brake force distribution (EBD) and emergency braking assistance (BAS). For a surcharge, the car could be equipped with an electronic stabilization system (ESP), which helps the driver maintain control of the car in difficult traffic situations.

 The Suzuki SX4 sedan offers excellent equipment and a host of other advantages: a spacious interior, a roomy trunk, high ground clearance, modern means of active and passive safety. Engines, transmission and suspension are quite reliable. Among the shortcomings are often called problems with the generator (it is low located and insufficiently protected from water and dirt), expensive parts, poor insulation, visibility problems (wide forked front struts interfere with side view).
SX4 SUV - a car developed jointly with the Italian company Fiat and which is strategically important for Suzuki. This crossover, combining the design and advantages of a compact car and an SUV, can be used both as a city car for every day and as a car for trips to nature. High seats provide good visibility and comfort when boarding passengers. The dashboard is made of high quality materials, in addition, the front seats of all-wheel drive models are heated. The “1.5XG” modification car looks like an SUV due to roof rails and a black edging on the bottom of the body and wings. Models of other modifications are standard or have a sporty look thanks to a modest body kit. Equipped with two types of engines with volumes of 1.5 and 2 liters.
