The second generation Toyota Auris (an independent name for the Corolla hatchback model) was presented at the Paris Motor Show in September 2012, sales in Europe began in 2013. Compared with the previous generation, the car acquired a more luxurious interior, the luggage compartment increased slightly (it became slightly longer than its predecessor, although it retained the same wheelbase), and due to changes in the design and use of new materials it was possible quite significantly (by 40 kg ) reduce weight. Even in the basic version (1.33 liter engine and only “mechanics”) there are many useful options, such as: climate control, several electronic security systems, daytime running lights, electrically heated mirrors and front seats, oversized rims, etc. d. Thus, even in the database, the buyer receives a fairly “packaged” car.

 Depending on the configuration, Toyota Auris is equipped with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT, which replaced the automatic transmission in previous generation models. For lovers of active driving, CVTs provide the possibility of mechanical control with the help of paddle shifters - a kind of tribute to the changed character and appearance of the car, which has acquired a more aggressive appearance.

 Auris suspension is quite simple, without any frills, which only increases reliability. The front one is the classic MacPherson with anti-roll bar, the rear one is independent, with double wishbones (in cheaper trim levels, a torsion beam is installed at the rear). However, due to changes in tuning, springs and shock absorbers, developers have found an opportunity to improve the behavior of the new Auris on the road, including the severity of control. The car perfectly swallows joints and waves of asphalt and is not prone to felling in corners.

 Good Auris and in terms of security. Many electronic "bells and whistles" are already in the basic configuration: anti-lock braking system, brake force distribution system, emergency brake booster, directional stability system, traction control, hill start assistance system. More expensive configurations include parking sensors, which include an intelligent parking assistance system. As standard, the car is equipped with six airbags, and in the top configuration, an airbag is added to protect the driver’s knees. As part of the Euro NCAP 2013 testing program, the Auris hatchback received 5 stars for protecting the driver and passengers. Excellent results have been achieved in protecting pedestrians in the event of a collision. Given the approach of the creators who sought to implement as many innovations as possible in this model aimed at improving comfort and safety, we can safely say that Toyota Auris is one of those cars that meet the requirements of not only today, but also the future. The only thing that can be noted from the minuses is the high base cost of the car. However, at the same time, Auris outperforms many competitors in class. This is a stylish, economical car with a special charm that completely refutes the myth of the allegedly “freshness” of Toyota models.
