As before, Avensis is offered in Europe in two body styles - a sedan and a station wagon (for the last slightly larger demand), with three diesel and three gasoline engines, three transmission options and four basic trim levels. The car has become more stylish from the outside, the quality of interior decoration has changed for the better, as well as the interior equipment. In addition, developers have made significant strides in the field of sound insulation. Outside, everything is simple - the new corporate design of the Toyota brand is now also on the “face” of Avensis. For its implementation, it was required to put a new grille and bumper, upgrade the headlights, adding daytime running lights to them. Changing the proportions of the upper and lower grilles led to the fact that the car began to look wider, although the overall dimensions did not change at all. The rear of the wagon remains the same, while the sedan has new combined brake lights and a bumper.
 Avensis was offered to Russian customers in the Comfort Plus, Elegance, Elegance Plus, Prestige and Luxury trim levels. The decoration materials have changed, the center console has been redesigned, which should make the management of various systems more ergonomic. The interior was seriously refitted and equipped with a new multimedia device, which at a relatively low cost in its class is quite advanced in technical terms (navigation, 6.1-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, 11 audio speakers, rear view camera, phone book, synchronization with a cell phone and stuff). In expensive trim levels, the electrical package is expanded with electric steering column, driver and passenger seats. A feature of the new generation of the car was an entertainment multimedia system for rear passengers. But even the most inexpensive basic equipment includes a good set: front power windows, air conditioning, heated front seats and side mirrors, an MP3 audio system with six speakers, a central locking with remote control, an immobilizer. The modernized 1.6-liter engine (132 hp) opens up the range of engines, and new “fours” of 1.8-liter (147 hp) and 2.0-liter (152 hp) more popular among customers are offered . There is no longer a 2.4 liter gasoline engine, and the diesel line has remained unchanged: a two-liter 126-horsepower unit or a 2.2-liter diesel engine in versions with 150 hp. and 180 hp, but, however, they are not offered in Russia. Although sometimes you can find such options from Europe on sale, the 2.2-liter version comes with an automatic transmission, while all other engines (including for the domestic buyer) are equipped with two transmission options: mechanical 6- step and V-belt variator Multidrive (1.8 and 2.0). When upgrading the suspension of the new Avensis, the task was to provide maximum comfort in its class, but at the same time not forgetting about the sports component. The result is an optimal compromise, and the Avensis, with its MacPherson struts in front and the double wishbones in the rear, has excellent ride characteristics. The design of the rear suspension allows you to free up more space for the trunk: the sedan has a volume of 509 liters, the wagon has even more - 543 liters in the normal state and 1609 liters with the rear seats folded. The ground clearance is 140 mm and the minimum turning radius is 5.4 m.

 The security level of Avensis is very high. This generation, which received a five-star rating, was no exception. The basic equipment includes seven airbags, a stabilization system, a pillow to protect the driver’s knees, active head restraints, familiar ABS, EBD, BAS. The emergency brake signal in case of a dangerous situation causes the rear LED lights to flash, attracting the attention of drivers moving behind. In expensive trim levels, the car can be equipped with high-intensity bi-xenon headlights (HID) with adaptive lighting system (AFS), rain and light sensors, a rear-view mirror with an electrochromic coating that prevents blindness of the driver at night.
