Toyota Corolla Fielder 2012 model year is the third generation of the popular station wagon, released simultaneously with the new generation of the Corolla Axio 160 sedan. The new Fielder is, first of all, spaciousness and comfort as the main components of the success of the model. This became the rule with the advent of the first Fielder in 2000, when a new station wagon was also to enter the new century. The utilitarian nature of previous generations has long been a thing of the past. The fact that the new Corolla family was first created on the B-Class platform, the car only benefited. After all, Fielder has become more compact, lighter, the turning radius has been significantly reduced. But at the same time, the dimensions of the cabin have changed very slightly. In addition to everything, Fielder got a hybrid power plant - an indicator of not only the environmental friendliness of the model, but also its high technology. In the domestic market, Corolla Fielder is offered in various trim levels, of which the top modifications of the Aero Tourer deserve the greatest interest. If we talk about the exterior, these versions attract attention with an organic and fairly compact body kit around the lower perimeter of the body. Corolla Fielder’s internal content continues to focus on enhanced vehicle functionality. The rear seatbacks are lowered with the help of convenient levers next to the tailgate - a cargo platform of 2025 mm length is obtained. The lateral backs of the back row can be tilted back and up to 16 degrees. Another feature inherited from its predecessor is an organizer located under the luggage compartment flooring. In addition, numerous organizers and pockets are dispersed throughout the cabin. Multifunctional steering wheel - adjustable in two planes. The door locks of the driver, front passenger and trunk are equipped with a Smart Entry system, to which a remote smart key is attached. The hybrid instrument panel is a chic 4.2-inch multi-information color TFT display.

 Unlike the Axio sedan, the Fielder station wagon is still devoid of a junior 1.3-liter unit. The base engine is a 1.5-liter 1NZ-FE equipped with a VVT-i variable valve timing system. Motor power ranges from 103 to 109 hp, torque - 132-138 Nm. For the hybrid version, the base of the power plant is the 74-horsepower 1NZ-FXE gasoline engine, familiar from the first-generation Toyota Prius models. The Atkinson cycle implemented in it with a modified ratio of the cycle times allows achieving excellent environmental indicators and economy. It is supplemented by a 45-kilowatt electric motor having constant full torque in a wide speed range. In addition to the above engines, a 1.8-liter 2ZR-FAE with a capacity of 140 hp is offered for sports versions. with the latest Valvematic throttleless system, which allows infinitely variable valve lift.

 Suspension struts in front, semi-independent torsion beam at the rear - Corolla Fielder suspension remains unchanged for several generations. This design is simple and almost impeccable reliability. Four-wheel drive has undergone significant improvement. The previous V-Flex system was replaced by a more advanced ATC (Active Torque Control), in which the viscous coupling connecting the rear axle is replaced by an electromechanical one, while the control system automatically maintains the programmed value of the moment transmitted to the rear wheels. The main transmission unit of Corolla Fielder is a variator, “mechanics” is present only in the version with the base motor.

 Corolla Fielder driver and passenger safety is ensured by a variety of active and preventative protection systems. The standard equipment of all versions includes ABS systems with EBD, which ensure stable braking, as well as VSC and TRC systems, which ensure the necessary maneuverability and stability of the vehicle in dynamics. In expensive versions, the car has an automatic headlight control system, gas-discharge headlights with automatic alignment, a self-dimming rearview mirror, additional direction indicators in the side mirrors, diffusion-type windshield washer nozzles with wide spraying. Hybrid versions use the hill climb assist system. The standard equipment of all models also includes a set of six airbags, front belt tensioners, active head restraints.

 Toyota Corolla Fielder by the fact of its existence proves that such a concept as “station wagon” is not outdated so far and cars of this type are in high demand today, despite the ever expanding market for various minivans. So it should be expected that the right-hand drive Fielder of this generation will be among the most popular models in the secondary market.
