Toyota Esquire R80, 1 generation, restyling 07.2017 - present

In July 2017, Toyota updated the current generation of Voxy, Noah and Esquire minivans. Cars received a special combination of front LED headlights and radiator grilles. According to Toyota, after the changes, it will be easier for customers to understand the positioning of cars. For example, Esquire is decorated in a premium style, with a “knightly” dashboard in the spirit of the top Alphard minivan. There are various tuning options for the design of the front; not without changes in the interior. Cars are still equipped with 2.0-liter naturally aspirated 3ZR-FAE engines paired with CVTs or THS II hybrid power plants, which are based on the 1.8-liter 2ZR-FXE engine. Even in the new exterior style, the main characteristic exterior of Toyota Esquire remains a massive T-shaped chrome grille, but thanks to its changed design, as well as new two-way headlights, the front of the car has become even more expressive. The rear part is also decorated in a new way, where the lights have changed, and the decorative trim now includes two separate chrome “fangs” on the sides of the license plate. In the Esquire saloon, another central armrest appeared, a table with two cup holders built into the back of the front passenger seat, a USB terminal for charging gadgets and an additional gasket for the sliding salon door - the mechanism should now be quieter. For the updated Esquire 2018-2019, the “court” tuning studio TRD and Modellista offer one set of body kits (unlike Voxy and Noah, where there are two of them). Both studios also introduced new rims for the entire family of minivans, designed for wheels with a diameter of 15 and 17 inches. In addition, Modellista proposed additional elements of interior lighting with LEDs, and TRD - a sports suspension. Modellista also offers a practical five-seater Multi Utility saloon with durable and mechanical-resistant “artificial wood” inserts in the trunk, which can be turned into a two-level structure to accommodate cargo, organize an even berth with the rear seats folded down, or use as picnic tables.  The engines remain the same. First of all, this is a hybrid powerplant, borrowed from the Toyota Prius: a 1.8-liter gasoline engine, paired with an electric motor, a total output of 136 hp. Esquire can drive up to 23.8 km per liter of gasoline, which roughly corresponds to the consumption in the mixed mode of 4.2 liters per hundred. The hybrid's electric transmission is variable, and the drive is implemented only on the front wheels. Nickel-metal hydride batteries are mounted under the front seats. Classic powertrain models feature a 2.0-liter 3ZR-FAE engine. Maximum power 152 hp Transmission - CVT with seven pseudo-gears. Both pre-drive and all-wheel drive versions are available. In combination with the stop-start system, the profitability indicator is 14-16 km / l or, translating into the usual values, 6.25-7.14 l / 100 km. In the chassis, everything remains the same - the front independent suspension (suspension strut type MacPherson strut) and the semi-rear (torsion beam). But the updated car has improved shock absorbers, and the body has become tougher. Minivan disc brakes (front ventilated), foot type parking brake, electric power steering. Dimensions of the minivan: length 4695 mm, width 1695 mm, height 1865 mm. Interior dimensions: 2930 x 1540 x 1400 (L x W x H). The width of the opening of the sliding doors is 805 mm. The opening of the tailgate is 1100 mm in the narrowest place, while the seats of the 3rd row folded along the sides do not interfere with loading at all. Height from the ground to the boot floor level - 500 mm (535 mm - 4WD). The updated Toyota Esquire (R80) has a safe GOA body, seven airbags, active head restraints, belts with pre-tensioners and force limiters, child seat fasteners. LED optics - with automatic alignment mechanism. An advanced set of Toyota Safety Sense active safety systems includes a collision avoidance system based on a laser radar and a camera, a warning function when leaving a lane, and automatic high beam. The car is safer for pedestrians too: the shock-absorbing design of the hood, fairing, wing and bumper helps reduce injuries.

 In the third generation, the Noah / Voxy / Esquire family offers the highest level of safety. A spacious interior, a full third row of seats, a flexible transformation system make the car attractive for large families and travel lovers. There is a choice of power plants - traditional gasoline or a hybrid. With restyling, the equipment of the machine has been improved. At the same time, the design remains an amateur, the ground clearance is clearly designed for exceptionally high-quality roads, sound insulation and decoration materials leave much to be desired.
