Sedan
Sedan Toyota Mark II in the 110th body received a bright sporty look and a completely new, transformed interior. Along with a decrease in overall length by 25 mm, the wheelbase expanded by 50 mm, and the height of the car increased by 60 mm. The dimensions of the cabin have not changed much, but the trunk has become more capacious, and access to it has significantly improved. Perhaps a less conservative appearance, and possibly the fact that the production of sister models Chaser and Cresta was discontinued, led to a sharp increase in demand for the new Mark II, which became incredibly popular in its homeland. Later, in 2002, in addition to the classic sedan, customers were also offered the elegant Mark II Blit station wagon. Oddly enough, this generation was the last to use the familiar name since 1968. In 2004, the baton was taken over by an even more radical Mark X.
As for the Mark II X110 sedan, at the time of the start of sales, all models had the “Grande” modification. Complete sets, according to the level of equipment corresponding to the previous generation Tourer V and Tourer S versions, became known as Grande iR-V and Grande iR-S (after restyling in 2002 - iR-V and iR-S "Respectively). Among the features of these luxury car modifications are aerodynamic body kit, 17-inch alloy wheels, another radiator grille, darker front optics and other differences confirming that these versions belong to high-class sedans.

In this generation, the engine line has been reduced: due to a diesel engine and a three-liter gasoline engine. The most powerful turbo power unit 1JZ-GTE (6DOHC, 280 hp), which was installed on the Mark II iR-V, went unchanged from the previous generation. The base is still a two-liter 1G-FE with 160 hp. But to the 2.5-liter 1JZ-GE engine rated at 196 hp. Its modification 1JZ-FSE (200 hp) was added. This engine, equipped with direct injection D-4 with all its advantages and disadvantages, has become an optimal power unit for the model. The transmission did not affect the changes either - for Mark II it is still a 5-speed manual transmission or 4-speed automatic transmission for most trim levels, as well as a 5-speed automatic for Grande G and IR-S trim levels.

A double independent suspension with stabilizers also remained without fundamental changes in design. But thanks to the increased base and a different geometry of the attachment points of the nodes, it is safe to say that the driving performance of the car has only improved. The suspension is so energy-intensive that it behaves very comfortably even on roads of not the best quality. And when driving on the highway at high speeds, the Mark II demonstrates high directional stability and excellent sound insulation. Drive - classic, rear. Or a complete “Grande Four” version, built on the same principle as on previous generations: the Full Time system, an asymmetric center differential with a lock clutch. The standard safety kit for all modifications of the Mark II in the 110th body was a set of two airbags, an ABS system with EBD and an auxiliary brake assist Brake Assist; seat belts with pretensioners and force limiters. As an option, the TCS traction control system (included in expensive trim levels) and side airbags were offered. The car as standard, according to the results of tests conducted in 2001 by the NASVA method (Japan), showed a high level of passive and active safety. Despite the seriously changed appearance of the “one hundred and tenth” Mark II, the character is still the same classic luxury sedan, which has become perhaps even more comfortable, more interesting, more modern. And the representatives of this generation, despite the fact that they have long moved into the second-hand category, are still able to demonstrate their best sides.
