Toyota Passo XC30, 2 generation 02.2010 - 03.2014

2 generation
(XC30) 02.2010 - 03.2014
DBA-KGC30, DBA-KGC35, DBA-NGC30
2 generation
Hatchback
In the second generation, this car, which is the result of a joint development of Toyota and Daihatsu, took a small step forward from the usual image of a small car. The model is presented in two main versions: “Passo” and “Passo + Hana”. The first is distinguished by the absence of external frills, combines high safety indicators and a friendly interior, the second has a more piquant appearance, including a special design of the front bumper and headlights, as well as an improved interior. Plus, in this generation, Toyota Passo has more performance levels than the Daihatsu Boon: there are both less expensive basic trim levels and more expensive top-end ones. The car is equipped with a 1.0 or 1.3 liter engine. In all versions, a variator is installed, "liter" models can be all-wheel drive.
The interior of the hatchback has completely changed, the front panel has taken a “box” shape and has become more functional. At the same time, all convenient solutions that were highly appreciated by the owners of the previous model were saved: the front seats of the sofa type, the gearshift lever at the steering column, the foot parking brake, a small central tunnel, additional shelves in the front panel and many compartments for things throughout the cabin. The manufacturer noted that the shape of the front struts of the new car was revised to make them thinner and improve visibility, the driver’s landing was changed for the same purpose. The car can be equipped with air conditioning or climate control system with a separate display and air purification system. The package includes a keyless entry system, start from a button, navigation from the HDD and a rearview camera, a function for automatically adjusting the mirror when turning on reverse speed, and much more. Passo + Hana models are distinguished by additional exclusive metallic body colors (light green Uguisu and dark red Azuki), have improved exterior and interior finishes, and more top-end options in the database. In 2012, a Kutsurogi version appeared with a brown interior, an exclusive body color of jade metallic, glass with improved UV protection.

The base power unit for the Toyota Passo 2010-2014 is the upgraded 3-cylinder 12-valve naturally-aspirated 1KR-FE DOHC engine with DVVT variable valve timing system - with a displacement of 1.0 liter (996 cc), it has a capacity of 69 horsepower forces. The previous K3-VE engine (1297 cc, 92 hp) has been replaced by the 1NR-FE engine (1329 cc, 95 hp), which is equipped with a dual DVVT and EGR exhaust gas recirculation system, which reduces toxicity exhaust in warm-up and rapid acceleration modes. The 1.3 model also has improved efficiency indicators - due to the variator with less power loss, the average consumption is now declared at 4.8 l / 100 km (up to 21 km per liter instead of the previous 18 km from the previous model with automatic transmission). Basic “liter” modifications in the 10-15 mode consume about 4.4 l / 100 km in front-wheel drive and 5.2 l / 100 km in all-wheel drive (22.5 and 19.2 km / l, respectively). The volume of the fuel tank is 38-40 liters. The car experienced a small update in 2012, having received a modified transmission and a stop-start system in the 1.0 2WD model, which comes under preferential taxation as an “eco-car”, and fuel consumption is now 4.3 l / 100 km. Suspension Toyota Passo / Daihatsu Boon retains the familiar design scheme: a combination of MacPherson struts in front and the torsion beam at the rear, and all-wheel drive cars at the rear have a dependent suspension with a continuous beam of the bridge. Power steering. The minimum turning radius remains the same 4.3 m when equipped with 13-inch tires (155 / 80R13), but if 165 / 70R14 tires are installed, the radius increases to 4.7 m. The external dimensions of the hatchback are 3640 x 1665 x 1535 mm (L x W x H). The interior length (1830 mm) remained the same, its height was increased to 1420 mm (+ 20 mm), width up to 1280 mm (+5 mm). Like its predecessor, the new Passo / Boon has rear doors swinging open at an angle of 80 degrees, the original design of a convertible rear sofa, which when folded allows you to get a large trunk with a flat floor.  The body of the model meets the necessary requirements of passive safety to protect the driver and passengers during impacts from all sides. The equipment of Toyota Passo 2010-2014 includes anti-lock braking system ABS and EBD (distribution of braking force depending on load), auxiliary braking system, front and side airbags, curtain airbags, active front seat head restraints. Since June 2012, in all versions, the central rear seat has a head restraint and a three-point seat belt, the car is also equipped with the VSC stability control system and TRC anti-slip system (standard for 2WD, except for the simplest versions, and an option for 4WD).

Passo / Boon is the third (if we recall that this is the second generation of cars) cooperation experience between the two companies. The first were Daihatsu Storia / Toyota Duet models, by the way, which were not very popular. The consumer saw through their descendants, the second generation inherited all the best, while it became safer, has a richer package bundle. Maneuverability, efficiency are indisputable advantages. At the same time, motors have become more demanding in operation, complaints about increased oil consumption are frequent. The downsides of the owners are called a weak steering rack, the tendency of the three-cylinder engine to vibrate, low ground clearance, and poor sound insulation.
