The first-generation Toyota Ractis was updated in December 2007. The design of the front and rear headlights, wheel caps, as well as the color of the radiator grille and the trim of the rear license plate plate have been changed. The color scheme includes eight body colors, with the addition of a new cobalt-blue metallic. After restyling, Ractis, in addition to looking better externally, became a little more comfortable, cozy and functional. Beige gray has been added to the interior color options; The standard equipment in the G configuration was the armrest of the driver's seat. A full set of airbags also becomes a standard. There are still three modifications: one with a 2SZ-FE base engine (1.3 L, CVT) and two with a 1.5-liter 1NZ-FE (CVT or automatic with 4WD).
The basic equipment includes air conditioning, power windows, tilt steering column, optional navigation on the hard drive. In the most optimal equipment version, Ractis will offer climate control, an intelligent engine start and start system, a multimedia system with a CD player, tuner (AM / FM) and 6 speakers. The front spoiler and side overlays, the rear spoiler, alloy wheels made of light aluminum alloy and fog lights allow you to refine the look. Versions with a panoramic roof give a feeling of openness in the interior. Additional improvements affected the car of the 2009-10 model year: lower specifications with standard xenon headlights, a powerful sound system with 6 speakers, an improved finish, etc. were offered at an attractive price.

The engines at Toyota Ractis 2007-2010 remain the same - a 1.3-liter 2SZ-FE (87 hp) combined with a CVT or a 1.5-liter 1NZ-FE working with a 4-speed automatic (4WD, 105 l. sec.) or with a variator (110 hp). The 1.5-liter model is equipped with an Active CVT variator, which can operate in a 7-speed sports gearbox with shift paddles. In 2009, the engine, transmission and generator settings were optimized on a front-wheel drive model with a 1.5 liter engine. As a result, more efficient fuel consumption. In the “10-15” mode, the car consumes 5.4 liters of gasoline per 100 km (previously - 5.6 liters).  In front, Ractis has an independent suspension with MacPherson struts, the upper cups are attached to the body with one central nut (as in the Vitz II); rear elastic beam with separate shock absorbers and springs. Considering that they tried to make Ractis as sporty as possible, wheels with a size of 175 / 60R16 were installed on it. Improved speed capabilities required to make the suspension stiff enough to reduce ground clearance (it is 135-155 mm). The electric power steering helps to increase controllability, and the system of auto-alignment of the body with rear air bags instead of springs was optionally available. The dimensions of the Toyota Ractis body are as follows: length 3955 mm, width 1660 mm, height 1500-1510 mm. The wheelbase is 2550 mm, the turning radius is 4.9 m. The interior looks quite spacious, its dimensions: length 1920-1960 mm, width and height 1380 and 1365 mm. Trunk volume - 321 liters. The rear seats fold easily into a flat floor. Items up to 1540 mm in length will enter Ractis without difficulty, and the total trunk volume reaches almost a cubic meter - to be more precise, 987 liters. It should be noted that another type of rear sofa is installed on 4WD cars, its pillows thrown forward forward reduce the length of the trunk floor to 1300 mm, and the maximum volume is reduced to 736 liters.

After restyling, as already mentioned, standard Ractis equipment in addition to front airbags includes side airbags for the driver and front passenger, as well as front and rear curtain airbags. There was a system of automatic light control. “In the base” are installed an ABS system with EBD, belts with pretensioners and force limiters, active head restraints, the standard for some trim levels is electronic stability control and traction control.

Despite the fact that the Ractis is formally the heir to the Funcargo, it’s basically two different cars. Perhaps, yielding to its predecessor in practicality, it retains compactness, maneuverability, but surpasses its progenitor in comfort, dynamics and other components. The disadvantages of the owners are low clearance, a weak 1.3 liter engine, cheap plastic and the lack of sound insulation, cramped space under the hood. There are few characteristic “diseases”, but one of the most common is the failure of the front wiper motor - it is recommended to periodically clean the drainage channels under the windshield.
