Hatchback
5 years after the launch of Toyota Ractis in Japan, the second generation of this compact van was released. The new Ractis fully retained the practicality of the previous generation and acquired a more stylish look. Since the debut of its predecessor, there have been numerous calls to make Ractis a global model. This time, the company went forward and released a left-hand drive analogue - in Europe it is called Verso-S. In the domestic market, Ractis is available in versions with a 1.3 or 1.5 liter gasoline engine in combination with a CVT. With an engine of 1.5 liters, the car can be all-wheel drive.
Toyota itself calls the new Ractis a compact car with the best-in-class interior and claims that it matches the higher segment in terms of interior space. Separate and adjustable first and second row seats, one-touch rear seats transformation, many compartments in the cabin and the presence of additional sections under the trunk floor - these features make the car practical and functional. The basic equipment “X” includes air conditioning, power accessories for controlling windows and door locks, and a CD player. Version "G" will offer an exclusive front bumper and grille, climate control, leather steering wheel, optional alloy wheels, sunroof and xenon headlights. Modification “L'epice” is distinguished by elegant accents in the design of the interior and exterior, and “S” has a sporty character (European-tuned suspension, steering column switches, etc.). The range also has Welcab equipment for people with disabilities.

The car is sold in versions with gasoline engines of 1.3 liters (95 hp) and 1.5 liters (105/110 hp). The new 1.3 liter 2SZ-FE engine is equipped with a Dual VVT-i system. The older 1NZ-FE unit is familiar from the previous generation. This 1.5-liter Ractis, as in the previous generation, is equipped with a CVT with sequential manual mode with 7 speeds and a sports mode for more active driving (S steering wheel controls are available in the S configuration). Thanks to the overall weight reduction (by about 30 kg), improved aerodynamic performance (Cd = 0.30 - one of the best in its class), as well as a modernized continuously variable transmission, high efficiency indicators were achieved - from 19.6 to 20.0 km / l

Ractis has an independent front suspension with MacPherson struts, and a torsion beam at the rear. The suspension, although it has not changed in type of construction, has been modernized in order to achieve higher manageability. It should be noted that Ractis II received many other changes. It is noted that for all-wheel drive vehicles, the old 4WD V flex system using a viscous clutch is replaced by an ATC active torque control system with rear wheels connected using an electromagnetic clutch. The car is equipped with 175 / 60R16 tires, the number of mounting holes in the discs is increased from 4 to 5, while maintaining the same landing distance of 100 mm; the spare tire has been canceled (now this is an option), and a repair kit is included in the kit. “Error handling” also includes installing a new front wiper (the first Ractis had problems with it due to clogged drainage holes). In this generation, the total length of the car body is 3995 mm, width - 1695 mm, height - 1585 mm. The wheelbase has remained unchanged - 2550 mm. The turning radius is the same 4.9 m. Cabin length 1875-1965 mm, width 1420, height 1310 mm. It is important that the principle of transformation is preserved. The salon can easily be laid out on an even plane: you can increase the trunk and spend the night. The trunk of the Ractis II / Verso-S is quite roomy - 430 liters. At the same time, it allows you to carry not only long objects with the seats folded, but also tall ones, if necessary, transport them only while standing (for example, a house tree in a pot) - the standard height of 910 mm is easily increased due to the removable luggage racks to an average of 1030 mm and up to a maximum of 1200 mm. The Ractis body meets stringent passive safety standards. The standard equipment includes two frontal airbags, ABS system with EBD, belts with tensioners and force limiters, head restraints with a protection system against whiplash injuries. Optional equipment includes side airbags for the driver and front passenger, front and rear curtain airbags. The stability control system and traction control (S-VSC & TRC) have been standard equipment since October 2013.  Ractis in the second generation has developed and improved all the advantages and interesting features of its predecessor. It looks great externally, is compact enough and convenient for the city. With its roomy and thoughtful interior, Ractis should appeal to fans of long-distance family trips. True, we immediately note that the 1.5-liter version has more to do with this. Disadvantages: low clearance, poor insulation, there are complaints of a long warm-up in the winter interior.
