SUV
The Toyota Rush model replaced the Toyota Cami, created on the basis of the development of Daihatsu Terios, while it became larger, received a more spacious interior and trunk. The exterior design, a powerful front end and wide wheel arches give the car the look of a stylish SUV that outwardly mimics the popular second-generation RAV4 (after the new RAV4 moved into a larger category, Toyota Rush formally even occupied its market niche, until the C- model appeared HR). The “brother” of the model in the Daihatsu line is now called Be-go in Japan. The new Rush (the essence of the name is “rapid movement” and “thrill”) demonstrates the next level of development of a comfortable city car, complemented by the qualities of a full-fledged all-terrain vehicle. The latter are ensured by the presence of an all-wheel drive system of the full-time 4WD type, ideal for poor roads (permanent all-wheel drive with an interaxle differential, blocking by a hydromechanical coupling with electronic control - just by pressing a button on the panel). But there are rear-wheel drive versions that are more oriented to urban conditions. Toyota Rush received the latest 1.5-liter gasoline engine, which is characterized by high power characteristics and efficiency.
Appearance Toyota Rush is made in a bright urban style. Smooth transitions from the front to the doors give the car a dynamic character, and a short wheelbase improves maneuverability in narrow city streets. The side lines of the rear window are of a peculiar shape: they extend beyond the boundaries of the car body, but at the same time they harmoniously combine with crystal taillights. Sports front seats have lateral support to maintain a comfortable body position. The driver can be adjusted in height from 30 to 15 mm from the floor. The steering wheel position is also adjustable. The car received automatic climate control with a liquid crystal display and pollen removal mode (standard for equipment G). There are hooks for securing luggage, electrical outlets in the front of the cabin and in the trunk, as well as numerous places for storing small items. In the options - a winter package, including windshield de-icers, heated mirrors, driver and passenger seats, rear fog lights. In the configuration with automatic transmission, the car is equipped with comfortable armrests. At the beginning of 2008, a warning sound signal was added when the brake was not lifted, new body colors appeared.

As a power plant Toyota Rush proposed gasoline engine series 3SZ-VE. The engine is 4-cylinder, with an in-line arrangement of cylinders, two camshafts and a 16-valve timing mechanism, equipped with a DVVT system. With a working volume of 1495 cubic meters. see he develops a maximum power of 109 hp at 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 141 Nm at 4400 rpm. Such an engine provides sufficient off-road traction, while remaining dynamic at high speeds. Depending on the type of transmission and drive, fuel consumption in the combined cycle varies from 7.2 to 8.1 liters of gasoline per 100 km. The fuel tank has a capacity of 50 l.

Toyota Rush has the following design features: a solid supporting body with a front subframe, a McPherson front suspension, a rigid rear axle on springs with Panhard traction. Overall dimensions allow to carry it to a compact class. The length of the car is 3995 mm, width - 1695 mm, height - 1740 mm.

The wheelbase has increased compared to the Terios / Cami predecessors (from 2420 mm to 2580 mm), but the car still has a high ground clearance (decent 190 mm). Small overhangs are also a plus, the wheels of the car are located as close to the corners of the body as possible to ensure the optimal gauge. Toyota Rush has a minimum turning radius of 4.9 m. Compared to the first-generation Terios, the car has a more spacious interior. When the car is fully loaded (5 people), the boot volume is 380 liters. If you fold the rear seats, you get a flat cargo space of 755 liters, while the mountain bike with 26-inch wheels even enters the car.

Toyota Rush has a safe body and will offer up to six airbags (two front - standard and optional side airbags and curtain airbags). The design of the front bumper and hood reduce the likelihood of injuries for pedestrians. The basic equipment includes an ABS system and electronic brake force distribution (EBD) to maximize braking performance and minimize skidding. For a surcharge, a VSC stabilization system was offered. In addition, four-wheel drive vehicles with automatic transmission can be supplemented with assistance systems when descending from a hill and when climbing to it.  Toyota Rush is created in the best traditions of compact cars and in many respects is not inferior to similar SUV models with 2.0-liter engines. But it has a more compact size, which can play a decisive role when buying. The car has its drawbacks, among them the owners distinguish the following: poor sound insulation, stiffer suspension, “diseases” with the steering rack and piston (the 3SZ-VE engine is demanding on the quality of gasoline and oil). Given the likely use of "mud baths" this "microjeep" will not prevent additional anti-corrosion treatment of arches, hidden cavities. In November 2008, the model was restyled.
