Sedan
In August 2013, Toyota updated the current generation of the Toyota Sai hybrid sedan. The subject of restyling was the comprehensive processing of exterior and interior parts in order to increase the self-recognition of the hybrid sedan. The main emphasis was made by designers on the development of front and rear optics. Thanks to changes in the shape of the headlights and taillights, the car has acquired a modern look. And, if before the main buyers of Saya were people aged 50 to 60 years, then the new exterior should, according to the developers, be directed to the attention of younger people on the hybrid sedan. The appearance modification is “continued” by new bumpers, a hood and a trunk lid, as well as wheel lockers and wheel disks. The car has a "sports" mode, which allows to achieve greater dynamics at the expense of efficiency. As well as new soundproof glazing, a more durable body and new suspension settings. The hybrid powerplant remains the same - Atkinson’s 2.4-liter gasoline engine and electric motor.
The interior of the Toyota Sai 2010 model year was designed from scratch. The central panel is all new, ventilation deflectors and control buttons are made in a new design, there are new audio control knobs, machined from solid aluminum. As before, the car’s interior was designed with the environment in mind, and the content of plant-based ecoplastics increased further. The manufacturer has modernized the design of the instrument cluster, the design of individual interior elements has changed for the better, new color solutions have appeared. In general, the finish has improved, high-quality leather is used in expensive trim levels. Sedan equipment has improved. There was a slot for microSD memory cards, two USB connectors, support for Blu-ray, the latest navigation system. In 2015, the manufacturer applied a new self-healing body coating, and the front windows made using Super UV400 technology provide maximum protection from ultraviolet radiation. After restyling, the Toyota Sai power plant still includes a 2.4-liter 16-valve 2AZ-FXE gasoline engine with a VVT-i system with 150 horsepower and an electric motor with a power of 105 kW, which is powered by a block of 34 nickel-metal hydride batteries 6.5 Ah, which are under the bottom of the car. The power of the installation is enough to accelerate the car to a maximum speed of 180 km / h, and it takes 8.8 seconds to accelerate from standstill to 100 km / h. The role of the transmission is performed by an electric continuously variable transmission (hybrid synergetic drive). The control system will automatically determine the most environmentally friendly (and economical) driving style. With a little modernization, the plants improved their energy recovery indicators and increased the efficiency of its use during movement. After the transition to the new JC08 fuel consumption accounting standard, an indicator of 22.4 km / l - 4.46 l / 100 km is now indicated in the relevant characteristics. The volume of the fuel tank is 55 liters.

The Toyota Sai undercarriage includes a MacPherson-type front suspension and a double wishbone rear suspension. The steering system uses an electric power steering (EPS) to improve reactions, and in addition, unlike hydraulic systems, it does not take power away from the engine, which also contributes to fuel economy. Disc brakes on all wheels (front - ventilated). It is worth noting that with the Toyota Sai update, some work was carried out on the technical side. The shock absorbers were retuned, the car's clearance was reduced by 10 mm, which had a positive effect on the aerodynamic properties of the sedan. The dimensions of the car allow it to be quite maneuverable - the minimum turning radius is 5.2 m (for models with 16-inch wheels). Toyota Sai has a spacious interior - its dimensions are 2040 x 1505 x 1210 mm. The layout of the batteries and the compact design of the rear suspension made it possible to make the luggage compartment quite decent for a hybrid of dimensions - its volume is 343 liters. The package of the updated Toyota Sai includes 10 pillows, active front head restraints, numerous electronic motion control systems. Mandatory equipment includes Hill Start Assist Control, which prevents the vehicle from rolling off when starting to climb. With an additional safety package, the updated sedan offers the most advanced driver assistance systems: lane keeping, emergency safety system, radar cruise control, all-round cameras. Toyota Sai is a very successful car: comfortable, spacious, economical. The sedan is of great interest in the secondary market due to a good offer in terms of equipment and relatively affordable prices. Cons its owners call the lack of a hatch in the trunk (the rear seats do not add up), low clearance, expensive body parts. The only generation Toyota Sai was discontinued in 2017, simultaneously with the launch of the new generation Camry.
