Toyota Soarer Z30, 3 generation 05.1991 - 12.1993

3 generation
(Z30) 05.1991 - 12.1993
E-JZZ30, E-UZZ31, E-UZZ32
3 generation
Coupe
Soarer appeared as a premium GT coupe with rear-wheel drive layout in 1981. The first and second generation of these cars made a real boom, while the third generation stands out for its luxury. For the first time in its history, Soarer began to be exported outside of Japan, where it was sold as a Lexus SC, competing with the Mercedes-Benz SL and BMW 8, and its sophisticated appearance was developed by California-based design studio Calty. It was equipped with Toyota Soarer release 1991-1993 naturally aspirated engine 4.0 V8 or in-line "six" 2.5 with twin turbochargers.
In creating the design of the “face” of the car, a bold style of curved lines was used. In the exterior, the original dual optics stands out, which inspires sports and at the same time classic associations. Decorated in front of the car with its own emblem in the form of a soaring lion. To equip the machine in the JDM-performance, the Japanese have stored all the best. As standard, there is an electric driver or both front seats, a fully digital dashboard, climate control. The top-end performance includes high-quality leather, generous wood finishes, integrated navigation and the EMV (Electro MultiVision) car control system with a touch screen, a rear view camera, a sunroof and active suspension, heated front seats and other equipment. On Toyota Soarer 1991-1993, a similar Toyota Celsior 8-cylinder engine with a capacity of 4 liters and a power of 260 hp is installed, as well as a six-cylinder engine with a capacity of 2.5 liters of twin-turbo, which developed a maximum of 280 “forces”. The car is equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission with an electronic control system ECT-i, but there are also modifications with a 5-speed manual transmission. With a curb weight of 1560-1750 kg, depending on the Soarer modification, the specific power was 5.5-6 kg / hp, which made it very dynamic. The maximum speed reached 210-252 km / h, and the acceleration time from standstill to "hundreds" was estimated at 5.8-6.3 s. If we talk about the reliability of power units, then the atmospheric 1UZ-FE is considered almost an icon in this regard among the "millionaires". The 1JZ-GTE engine is also one of the best examples of engine building, has a relatively simple design and excellent tuning capabilities. The suspension at Toyota Soarer corresponds to the luxury class - completely independent, with double wishbones. Models like UZZ31 were equipped with air suspension with adjustable ground clearance and damping stiffness. Soarer was also notable for the fact that in the most expensive and "stuffed" modification of the UZZ32, an active suspension control system was used, which suppressed changes in body position, vibration and roll. Such a system was combined with rear-wheel thrusters (active 4WS system). For the first time in the world, a yaw rate sensor was used in addition to a vehicle speed sensor and a steering angle sensor. As a result, Soarer was characterized by almost perfect behavior in corners and when overtaking. Given the presence of rear-wheel drive, the car was quite maneuverable. With a body length of 4.86 meters and a wheelbase of 2.69 m, its turning circle was 10.8 m. The dimensions of the compartment in the compartment are sufficient so that the rear seats are not so crowded: length 1825 mm, width 1490, height 1100 mm. For comparison, in the sister Supra A80, the interior had dimensions of 1580 x 1480 x 1065 mm (L x W x H). Trunk volume Soarer Z30 - 265 liters.

Since its inception, Toyota Soarer has had all the latest safety technologies on board. The third-generation model was equipped with three-point seat belts in all places, stiffeners in the doors, cruise control. Anti-lock braking system, driver's airbag and traction control were standard in the luxury version or options in cheaper cars of the first years of release.

Soarer is rightfully considered one of the best models in the Toyota JDM line, organically combining eye-catching design, reliability, luxury and speed. Cons also available: low clearance, high fuel consumption, expensive suspension repairs, high cost of body elements and interior parts, increased wear of door hinges. The population of used cars of this generation in the Russian market is not so large, which guarantees their exclusivity. A more interesting option is considered to be the cars of release since 1994, when Soarer survived the first modernization.
