The release of the commercial station wagons Toyota Probox and Toyota Succeed started back in 2002, but only in the fall of 2014 did they receive the first major update (before that, the manufacturer managed with only minor changes). The car has a completely new front part (bumper, optics, hood, fenders), the brand emblem has moved from the grill to the hood, and the whole front has become much more “friendly” to pedestrians in the event of a collision. There are much fewer changes behind - we changed the brake lights and put the rear view camera on some trim levels (with the image displayed on the salon rear-view mirror or on the navigation display). The differences between Succeed and Probox this time are minimized: cars, in fact, differ only in emblems. But, as before, there are differences in engines. The updated Succeed is equipped with only more powerful 1.5-liter units: it is a traditional gasoline engine (109/103 liters. p.) in front-wheel or all-wheel drive modifications, or a hybrid model since 2018 (74 hp, front-wheel drive).
The updated Toyota Succeed began to look more stylish, new spectacular body colors appeared, while the car retains some of the distinguishing features of the first version of the station wagon - for example, synthetic rubber inserts on the sides of the bumper (most often made in black). Major changes in the car inside: a completely new front panel, a new more efficient air conditioning in all trim levels. Thanks to the use of a parking brake with a foot drive, there is more space next to the driver, which is used to better organize the workplace. In general, the car has even more additional compartments, stands, holders, and a sliding table has increased in size. In the basic versions, front seats with fabric upholstery and integrated head restraints. The rear sofa “in the base” is a hard bench with dermatine upholstery. The TX includes front seats with adjustable head restraints and better upholstery, a comfortable back sofa with fabric upholstery, a thick pillow, a raised backrest and head restraints. Power windows are standard on the UL (driver's door), UL-X (two front), TX (all four) trim levels. The equipment of the hybrid includes climate control and heated front seats.

In the powertrain of Toyota Succeed 2015 model year, there was almost a revolution: instead of the classic mechanical and automatic transmissions, a CVT is now used. And without options - only CVT. The 1.5-liter 1NZ-FE engine survived the restyling and is available with front (109 hp, 136 Nm, 5.5 l / 100 km) or full (103 l. s., 132 Nm, 6.3 l / 100 km) driven. The THS II hybrid installation consists of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine (74 hp) and a 45 kW (61 hp) electric motor. The average fuel consumption of the Succeed Hybrid is 3.6-4.4 l / 100 km (depending on the measurement method). In Japan, the novelty is subject to a reduced transport tax for hybrids.

The suspension of Toyota Succeed and Probox in a modernized body is made according to the previous classic scheme for compact cars: the front MacPherson strut, the rear is a beam with trailing arms (the four-wheel drive cars have a continuous axle). After the upgrade, the suspension was reconfigured in the model, and the steering was equipped with a speed-sensitive electric power amplifier. Front ventilated disc brakes (disc diameter increased from 13 to 14 inches for more efficient braking), rear drum brakes. The dimensions of the car body: length 4245 mm, width 1690 mm, height 1525 mm. Ground clearance 130-140 mm. Wheelbase 2550 mm, turning radius 4.9 m. Payload about 400 kg. The luggage compartment is quite roomy, with an almost square-shaped opening. Depending on the position of the rear seat, the depth of separation is 1040/1810 mm; height / width 935/1420 mm, loading height 585 mm. In the Succeed UL-X, UL, U versions, the rear seatback fully reclines, a water-repellent coating makes it easier to clean the boot. For Succeed TX models (option for UL-X, UL), the rear seat is folded in two stages: the cushion leans forward, then the back rests (with the head restraints removed), forming a flat surface; floor covering - from fleecy material.  After the restyling of 2014, Toyota Succeed became even safer. The standard equipment includes: two airbags, ABS system with EBD (brake force distribution system between the front and rear axles depending on the mass of the cargo on board), emergency braking warning (emergency braking lights flash during sudden braking), the brake assist system on the rise (Hill Start Assist), as well as the stabilization system (VSC) and traction control (TRC). The complex of Toyota Safety Sense safety systems (standard from 08/30/2016) includes a collision avoidance system, a lane departure warning and automatic high beam.

Toyota Succeed is an excellent example of a passenger-and-freight passenger car. For its purposes (household, small transportation) it is almost perfect, while the updated model has become even safer, more economical, improved driving performance and handling. Perhaps the only significant drawback remains the same - the inability to fold the back seat in parts.
