In 2016, Japan began selling two new Toyota compact vans called Roomy and Tank. These models are also available under the brand names Daihatsu and Subaru, but bear other names - in the first case Thor, in the second - Justy. Between cars there are slight differences in the design of the front end. Compact cars are based on the 1LD-CAR Living + Driving concept, which combines the most spacious interior, ease of operation and style.
 The length, width and height of the Toyota Tank are 3,700, 1,670 and 1,735 mm, respectively. The Custom version, due to the other front bumper, is 15 mm longer. Toyota's press service separately emphasizes that the new products have a minimum turning radius of 4.6 m.

 For compact vans there are two gasoline engines of 1 liter capacity - 69 hp and turbocharged 98 hp They are aggregated only with stepless variator. Front-wheel drive or full, though full is offered only for aspirated. With an atmospheric engine and front-wheel drive, the compact van consumes only 4.1 l / 100 km.

 The floor in the cabin of the compact van is made absolutely flat, which allows riders with relative convenience to move between the first and second row of seats. The salon also has extensive transformation capabilities. The equipment of the new products includes the Smart Assist II complex of active safety systems, which includes a collision avoidance system and a lane tracking assistant. Compact cars are being manufactured at the Daihatsu factory in Ikeda.
