The Toyota Alphard and Vellfire models were modernized in September 2011. The new hybrid powerplant, which appeared in Toyota Vellfire after restyling, has not undergone fundamental changes compared to the previous generation Alphard H10 minivans. As before, the main engine is the 2.4-liter petrol unit 2AZ-FXE. The transmission is continuously variable. There are still two electric motors. One is connected to the front wheels, the second to the rear. That is why, as before, the hybrid Alphard and Vellfire are exclusively four-wheel drive. The difference between the new generation THS-C hybrid system is that the engine now develops 150 liters. With., the maximum power of the front electric motor increased to 105 kW, rear - up to 50 kW. The voltage throughout the system rose to 650 V. Two additional driving modes also appeared: Eco and EV.
