The first-generation Toyota Wish minivan was introduced in an updated form in September 2005. The headlights were equipped with a searchlight type lens, and the design of the front bumper was slightly corrected to reduce noise from headwinds at high speeds. With the restyling, Wish also received a different form of fog, a new grille and taillights. Changed the design and other details in the exterior, including the side kit and rear bumper (it is now with reflectors). The exterior of the car is made in a sporty style, but now it has become even more pronounced. The interior is slightly updated. The 2.0Z continuously variable transmission received a 7-speed sequential shift mode instead of a 6-speed one.
Wish is a relatively compact minivan with three rows of seats that can accommodate 6 or 7 people. The updated design of the center console features a new climate control unit. A G-BOOK navigation system with a hard drive and a hands-free system with Bluetooth were added to the equipment. In April 2006, special equipment X Limited was launched based on the standard version of X - gas-discharge headlights, suede seat upholstery, ebony inserts on the central panel and doors, a three-spoke steering wheel trimmed with genuine leather. Special 2007 trim levels include the X L Edition and X Aero Sport Version L Edition versions with gray interior trim, remote control, infrared-protected windshield, water-repellent side door windows, etc. The year 2008 was marked by the re-release of the “X Limited” version simultaneously with the release of the new full-featured “X Aero Sports Package Limited” package.

Toyota Wish is equipped with two versions of 4-cylinder gasoline engines, the same as before restyling. Front-wheel drive modifications based on the base model “X” received a 1.8-liter engine 1ZZ-FE with 132 hp. with a torque of 170 Nm. All-wheel drive versions have a return of 125 liters. with. power and 161 Nm of traction. Modifications of the 2.0-liter class have only front-wheel drive, are equipped with a 1AZ-FSE engine - its power is 155 hp, torque is 192 Nm. Models with a 1.8-liter engine are equipped with a 4-band automatic transmission, while the all-wheel drive 1.8-liter Wish is equipped with the usual “automatic”, and the front-wheel drive has a sequential type. The model with a 2-liter engine is equipped with a variator, in the Z configuration it has a 7-speed Sequential Shift-matic mode instead of the 6-speed in 2. 0 G.

The base for the car was the Toyota Corolla. Independent front suspension (suspension strut type MacPherson strut). The rear one is a semi-independent torsion beam either - with the 4WD system and in the 2.0 Z configuration - independent, with double wishbones. The minimum turning radius is also slightly different - for front-wheel drive minivans it is 5.3 meters, for versions with 4WD it is 5.5 meters. Cars are shod in tires of dimension 195 / 65R15, starting with equipment X - on alloy wheels. But the sporty performance of the 2.0 Z relies on 17-inch wheels. Four-wheel drive on cars with automatic transmission and a 1.8 engine is provided by connecting the rear axle with an electromechanical clutch. Thanks to the wide wheelbase and flat floor, it was possible to save enough space for all passengers and the luggage compartment. At the same time, the Z configuration is six-seater and is equipped with separate second-row seats. The trunk of the Wish itself is not too large, but you can completely recline the seatbacks of the third or even second row, and if you fold the front seat (standard for X Aero Sports), you will also be able to carry a long load.

A set of Toyota Wish 2005-2009 safety systems includes an anti-lock brake system with a brake force distribution system, as well as an auxiliary Brake Assist. Two airbags (driver and front passenger) could be supplemented with side airbags and curtain airbags. Options 2.0 Z as standard includes traction control.

When developing the Wish model, Toyota clearly sought to create a car that was close to ideal. Salon - with a well-thought-out layout, transformation and plenty of storage space. The sporting class of expensive trim levels is emphasized by aero body kit and other details. Wish is a serious competitor to many minivans, even inside the Toyota range. The offer in the secondary market is varied both in price and in technical condition. The disadvantages of the owners are usually called hard plastic in the cabin, low ground clearance, whimsical engines.
