The Toyota Wish minivan, produced in the second generation for the Japanese domestic market since 2009, was introduced in an updated version in the spring of 2012. The manufacturer slightly changed the exterior of the model, worked on the quality of the interior and improved fuel economy. The freshened model can be distinguished by more sporting bumpers, a new false radiator grille, as well as a chrome trim on the tailgate, LED tail lights and an additional brake light. The car is equipped with side mirrors with repeaters, new configurations with aerodynamic body kits have appeared. There were no global changes in the power unit - under the hood, the modernized 2ZR-FAE and 3ZR-FAE with a capacity of 130-143 and 152 horsepower. With a younger engine, as before, four-wheel drive is available.
Changes in the interior of Toyota Wish since 2012 include the usual set of solutions for restyling. An updated instrument cluster and steering wheel, new upholstery materials and color schemes, while some decorative trim elements can be combined with the body color. Especially for the new sports equipment, carbon interior parts were developed, namely: the center console and the overlay for the window lifter control module. In 2013, a special Monotone series was launched based on the standard model 1. 8 S - with an aggressive design, rich equipment with a standard anti-theft system, dark chrome in the exterior, two-tone wheels. Wish is still very easy to use. The peculiarity of the three rows of seats in the cabin is that their location can be changed in various combinations. The backrests of the second row seats can be turned into tables. There is plenty of storage space. The 2.0Z models feature a six-seat layout and improved interior equipment.
The engines for the updated Wish are installed the same - 1.8- or 2-liter DOHC with four cylinders and a valve timing system of the Valvematic type, which changes the valve lift height depending on engine operating conditions and provides high fuel efficiency. At the same time, bench indicators of fuel consumption were brought into line with the new standards under Japanese law. So the front-wheel restyled “vish” with a 1.8-liter engine consumes 6.3 liters per hundred, the all-wheel drive version, as well as complete sets with two-liter engines, consume about 7 liters per hundred kilometers. The transmission on all models is variable-speed; a 3-speed sequential gear shift mode is available for the 3ZR-FE. Since 2015, Wish with a 1.8-liter engine has become even more economical due to the refinement of the variator - consumption has decreased to 6.2 l / 100 km. Toyota Wish Suspension includes MacPherson struts in front and rear - a torsion beam on front-wheel drive cars (except for Z equipment) or a double-lever design on all-wheel drive modifications and Z equipment. Wheelbase 2750 mm. The minimum turning radius is 5.2 m, which provides good maneuverability in urban parking conditions. Body dimensions (L x W x H): 4600 x 1745 x 1600 mm. Interior dimensions: 2660 x 1470 x 1315 mm. Among other things, this model has a very comfortable trunk. In the standard position, its dimensions are small (length 405 mm), but with the third row folded, the length of the trunk increases to 1095-1140 mm, and if the front seat is folded, long items can also be transported.
Toyota Wish Safety is defined by ABS systems with EBD and Brake Assist, electronic stability control, parking assistance system. Standard equipment includes front and side airbags, curtain airbags, active head restraints, three-point seat belts for all seats.
In the second generation, the minivan Wish has retained its stylish appearance and high functionality. This machine is really designed for every taste and every lifestyle, including an active one. The update improved the minivan in all respects. The main advantages are affordable price, ease of management, capacity and fuel economy. The disadvantages of the owners are the whimsical engines, low ground clearance, cheap plastic in the cabin, and stiffer suspension.
