Toyota Yaris is a compact five-seater compact car of a particularly small (B) class. The model debuted at the Paris Motor Show in the fall of 1998, but sales in Russia began only in 2006, shortly after the launch of the second generation of the model. Yaris is a European variation of the model for the Japanese market Toyota Vitz and is available in the hatchback. The car is an urban “compact” of a modern type with advanced capabilities for transforming the interior, high-quality performance and the exterior / interior that correspond to the spirit of the time - these qualities allowed the first generation to become a European bestseller. The second-generation car became slightly larger in size (mainly in length, due to the increase in the base) and acquired many such useful “trifles” as the rear seat backs adjustable by tilt (up to 10 degrees), a digital instrument panel, and even more “drawers” for storing things (with a total volume of up to 18 liters), etc.
Toyota Yaris R1’s basic equipment includes an electric power steering, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio control buttons, a telescopic adjustable steering wheel, an immobilizer, a radio, air conditioning and folding rear seats, and the car’s doors are equipped with double gaskets to improve sound insulation. The power package of the cabin includes power windows for the front doors, central locking, power door mirrors. In the richest configuration “R3”, the car is equipped with an intelligent system for accessing the car and starting the engine (Smart Entry & Start), climate control system. The most praiseworthy are the functionality of the hatchback. Firstly, it has become much more spacious compared to the previous generation, especially at the rear. Secondly, the volume of the luggage compartment has grown pretty decently. In the standard position, the boot volume is 272 liters, which is a record in the class. With the rear seats folded, the volume increases to 1,086 liters. At the same time, the rear seats are equipped with the Toyota Easy Flat system, thanks to which they fold and shift forward with one movement of the hand, allowing you to get a flat cargo area. Unlike Europe, where Yaris was available with three engines, for Russian buyers the car was offered only with one 1.3-liter gasoline engine with 87 hp, with manual and multimodal gearboxes. The MultiMode gearbox combines manual gearshift mode and automatic gearshift without using the clutch pedal: the “M” mode provides sequential gear shifting, in the “E” mode the gears are switched automatically, and in the “Es” mode - sports - in accelerated mode. In front, Yaris has an independent suspension of the McPherson type, at the rear - semi-independent (torsion beam). Front ventilated disc brakes, rear disc brakes, which provides excellent braking dynamics. The type of amplifier is electric, which contributes to even greater ease of maneuvering in the parking lot and higher accuracy when driving on the highway, in addition, less whimsical to maintain. The wheelbase (2460 mm), elongated compared with the previous generation, provides not only additional roominess of the cabin, but also higher driving performance.

Toyota Yaris is one of the safest cars. Already standard equipment includes anti-lock braking system (ABS), auxiliary braking system (BAS), frontal airbags (driver and front passenger), side airbags, safety bars in the doors; seat belts are equipped with tensioners. In crash tests using the Euro NCAP methodology, the car received a score of 35 points and a full set of five stars, which again was a serious result for a car of this class.

Possessing a lot of advantages, Toyota Yaris initially had, perhaps, one significant drawback - high cost. This is what prevented the car from becoming a sales leader in our market. Even second-hand used cars show quite a big difference in price compared to classmates of the same model year. However, there are more pluses - Yaris is not a very frequent guest in car services, and the high level of equipment also makes its own adjustments. Of the total number of cars on offer - a lot with a robotic box. If there is no confidence in her, it is better to opt for a proven "mechanics".
