The 6th generation Accord in the European version appeared in 1998. From the American and Japanese counterparts, this car has significant differences both in the exterior / interior, and in the power units. In addition, the European Accord is distinguished by more compact dimensions, and the exterior of the sedan looks very sporty and smart. One of the distinguishing features of the new car was a large company emblem with a stylized letter H on the grille. The European version was developed by the Japanese together with research centers in England and Germany, a car was produced in England, from where it entered the Russian market. From a wide range of power units (1.6-2.2 liters, 105-212 liters. s.), which included diesel versions, only gasoline models were offered to the Russian buyer in the most optimal combination of volume and power - 2.0 liters and 147 horsepower, in combination with a manual or automatic transmission.
 The interior design of the Honda Accord looks good even by modern standards, and the seat structure is quite successful to accommodate people of different physiques. The steering column is adjustable for tilt, along with a sufficient range of seat adjustments, allowing the driver to take a comfortable position. A characteristic feature of the interior of the new model was the instrument panel with three separate round cells of the scales and a large visor, covering not only the devices themselves, but also the central air ducts with the climate control unit, making all of these elements seem to be a single whole and fully orientating the controls to the driver. The LS basic equipment included power windows, air conditioning, an immobilizer. The more expensive ES version offered electric front seats, heated seats, leather upholstery, alloy wheels, a premium Bose audio system, climate control and a number of other options, including a sunroof.

 The 2.0 liter F20B6 unit has a capacity of 147 hp. Thanks to the VTEC system, this engine is considered quite economical, especially at low speeds: data on fuel consumption in the combined cycle are declared in the range of 8.6-9 l / 100 km. At the same time, the engine is dynamic at high speeds - and this is also the merit of the VTEC system. The maximum speed of the sedan reaches 200-210 km / h, and the acceleration time from standstill to 100 km / h in the version with a 5-speed "mechanics" - 10 seconds (one second longer for a car with a 4-speed automatic transmission). It is worth noting that with proper maintenance (the use of high-quality fuel and oil, timely replacement of the timing belt, etc.), the engine is able to please with a long trouble-free operation.

 On the positive side, the 6th generation Accord sedan is distinguished by driving performance. The car uses the well-proven double independent linkage suspension of lever type on all four wheels. In the European specification, the car is equipped with a traditional power steering. The brakes are fully disc (front ventilated). Body dimensions: length 4595 mm, width 1750 mm, height 1430 mm. The wheelbase of the car is 2670 mm, and the minimum turning radius of 5.3 m indicates good maneuverability. The luggage compartment is 425 liters.

 For the sixth generation Honda Accord, front dual airbags for the driver and passenger, as well as side front airbags, were offered as standard equipment. For versions “Vi” and “VTL” a 160 hp SOHC engine was intended. front-wheel drive modifications and 158 hp all-wheel drive. In 1999, the SiR equipment was added to the model's modification range, on which a power unit of the DOHC VTEC series was installed, developing a power of 200 hp. In addition, in 2000, an all-wheel drive version of this modification began to be produced, but already with a capacity of 190 hp. All versions of the Accord Wagon were equipped only with an automatic transmission - a 4-speed with electronic control and the ability to manually shift gears.

 A feature of the new Accord model was a significant improvement in driving performance due to the refinement of the front double wishbone suspension, the use of a rear 5-link independent suspension, the appearance of an electric power steering with a variable gear ratio and a 4WD Real Time all-wheel drive system with a Dual Pump clutch (double hydraulic pump). From the name of this system, "Real Time", it follows that the four-wheel drive is activated only at the time at which it is needed, thereby ensuring optimal fuel consumption. Unlike previous generations, offering only front-wheel drive, the new station wagon has become a much more complete tourist option.

 Of the active and passive safety systems in the Honda Accord Wagon there are airbags (driver and front passenger), child seat mounts, door stiffeners, front belts with pretensioners and load limiters. As well as electronic systems: anti-lock braking (ABS), auxiliary braking system (Brake Assist).
