Honda Accord CU, 8 generation 12.2008 - 01.2011

8 generation
(CU) 12.2008 - 01.2011
DBA-CU2, CU1, CU2
8 generation
Sedan
Wagon
Compared with the previous generation, the eighth generation Accord is made in an even more emotional and dynamic style. The car has become much wider and lower, has grown in length. Although the wheelbase was reduced, the dimensions of the passenger compartment were not affected at all. The impressive front end and smooth inextricable lines of the body give the car a more athletic, elegant look. The Honda Accord's excellent maneuverability also matches the sporty design: thanks to the new suspension settings, the car has become even more responsive and easy to drive, and body roll has decreased significantly. The car, as before, has excellent dynamic characteristics and environmental performance. The eighth generation Honda Accord is in line with the European version. In the domestic market, the car was offered in two body types: a sedan and a station wagon. At the same time, the latter acquired its own name - Accord Tourer. However, the differences in trim levels between the sedan and the station wagon are insignificant. In the maximum equipment of the car of the 2011 model year (after restyling) they have the following set of options: aluminum wheels, spoilers, xenon headlights, power accessories, cruise control, electric drive and heated front seats, leather interior, engine start from the button, remote key, navigation system with LCD monitor including DVD audio and built-in HDD. To the station wagon additionally rely roof rails, an electric rear door, a convenient drawer in the trunk for storing trifles.

Both the Accord sedan and the Accord Tourer station wagon are equipped with in-line 4-cylinder power units in volume of 2 and 2.4 liters. At first, the car was offered only with a 2.4-liter K24A engine equipped with the i-VTEC system, which is a further development of the Honda VTEC proprietary design, which is an electronic system for controlling the opening time and valve lift height. This system increases power, torque, saves fuel and reduces harmful emissions by constantly monitoring the valve timing. Accord fuel consumption with such an engine is about 11.4 liters per “hundred” in the city cycle, which is quite a bit for a 206-horsepower engine of this volume. After restyling in 2011, simpler versions with a 2-liter engine were added.

The Accord front suspension is double wishbone independent. Rear - multi-link. Transmission - a 5-speed automatic with manual gear shifting and steering wheel-mounted control paddles. Due to the reduced base, the car became a little more maneuverable. And if you take into account that the total body width has increased by 80 mm, then, for example, the Accord Tourer station wagon in terms of the amount of free space (the luggage compartment has a maximum volume of 660 liters) is even more consistent with the concept of a “tourist car” than the previous generation. The only significant minus is the lack of an all-wheel drive version, as well as modifications to the “mechanics”. In terms of safety, the Honda Accord with each generation shows an evolutionary development that is fully consistent with modern requirements. So, in the standard equipment, the cars received a set of six airbags, active head restraints. In the basic configuration there is a wide range of electronic systems: anti-lock braking (ABS), brake force distribution (EBD), auxiliary braking (BAS), stability control (ESP), traction control (TCS). Other useful “little things” are mirrors with auto-tuning when reverse gear is engaged, a parking camera and a rearview camera.

The eighth generation Honda Accord deserves a lot of interest - it's a spacious, well-equipped sedan. However, the right-hand drive models of this generation are significantly inferior in popularity to previous generations. This is understandable, given the successful sale of the left-hand drive analogue, and the prices of used Japanese copies of the new wave are still not very affordable.
