The second generation CR-X, which appeared on the market as a light front-wheel drive car, won great success in the segment of compact sports models. With a body length of only 3.7 m, this car has an original appearance that is not found in other Japanese cars. There were even rumors, the exterior for the CR-X was developed by the famous western designer. Thanks to the shape of the body, the car has excellent aerodynamics. Originality gives it a large rear window, occupying almost the entire rear of the body.
 This CR-X uses the same suspension as the Civic - independent, with double wishbones on all wheels. At the beginning of the release of this model, there were two modifications: 1.5X, on which a 1.5-liter in-line 4-cylinder SOHC engine was installed, developing a power of 105 hp. (in the case of an automatic transmission - 100 l. c.), and Si, equipped with a 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder DOHC engine with 130 hp.

 Thanks to the adjustable seats, the cabin was comfortable and convenient. In 1989, the SiR modification was added, which uses the DOHC VTEC engine, which develops 160 horsepower. This modification was the climax in the production of light sports models of the Honda concern. At the same time, the design of the front bumper and rear combined optics changed slightly.
